Does anyone know where we will be holding our spring game this year with the renovations going on? I saw speculation that we wouldn't be having one but I can't see that being the case. It did however get me to thinking about the location

Probably the practice facility. Media only.

Or at one of the high schools in town.

Yeah we should do it at Consol over an indoor media only event

I haven't seen Rudder High's finished stadium but it was fairly good sized when I layed it out for construction. Too while a little older BHS has a pretty good stadium.

My only concern is that the NCAA dictates it has to be on campus. Then we will pretty much have to do it inside

They gotta give an exception when one's stadium in under construction

What does College Station High School's stadium look like?

I could see them using the soccer stadium for the spring game if they had to. It would really suck to have a parent's weekend with no football game.

Anybody remember the construction workers watching football in 98 on top of the unfinished Zone? That always made me laugh.

Consol has a pretty nice one too. I only mentioned Rudder's because it's the newest.

Not NCAA rule. Many schools host satellite camps and the like. The SEC has a rule against its institutions hosting recruits off-campus. They wrote in a special exemption for neutral site conference games (OOC games like ASU are still against the rules). And while many fans enjoy the spring game, it's really a glorified practice that schools use for recruiting. It doesn't exactly make money.

We've petitioned for an exemption due to construction. It makes sense and is not against the spirit of the rule so my understanding is, it is not a problem. But we pushed for a Reliant deal and we got denied the opportunity to host recruits there. Things like that are actually exactly why the rule was put in place.

Yeah, otherwise everyone would have stadium "construction" every Spring.

yeah, there are some ruthless coaches in the SEC. Take a look at the way Butch Jones is exploiting the signing rule

They have to be very careful in what they allow

What do you think are possible locations that would be deemed acceptable?

dunno. I agree with y'all that local high schools are likely but it's hard to hold an "event" at one of those.

I might try to use a nearby small college stadium like Texas Southern's. Not sure how the SEC would feel about BBVA Compass Stadium though

Blinn's stadium in Brenham isn't too bad.
