Isn't rupp getting a complete makeover? ole miss future arena looks very nice. UGA is probably the most awful. I mean you got the city of atlanta knocking down all kinds of stadiums, you would think the state would spend some money on UGA. Bama's looks like a tomb. How could they allow auburn to build a new arena and not build a nice arena for the favorite son?

TBA and Philips Arena are the only two arenas I can think of that have the boxes set up like that.

More need to do it if they are going to have boxes. If you are behind glass and just using it to conduct business, you need to be as far away from the floor as possible.

What I like even less are the folks who have corporate boxes that also get lower seats. Since one person can not sit in two seats at the same time it sucks for the live experience and ruins the atmosphere when the best seats low go empty. Pure money grab and should not be allowed in any venue that gets any money from the city or state to built it.

The new YUM in Louisville is filling the venue but struggles to pay off debt because the deal structure is one of the most lopsided in college basketball for the citizens that paid for it.

Age

It was the biggest in the SEC and one of the biggest in the country until Rupp got built in the late 70's to eclipse it. Memorial Gym is solid considering it was built shortly after WW II and seated almost 16,000 before it got downsized about a decade ago (current capacity is just over 14K now)

I've said this before but I'm not a big fan of watching games there. In fact, I even prefer games at Stegeman over Memorial as far as sight lines and the seating setup. But it would feel wrong if they played somewhere else. It can get pretty loud in there and the setup is obviously a huge home court advantage.

I tend to agree

It can get pretty loud

Which is more than can be said at some SEC basketball venues

Memorial may be dated and funky but that is part of the charm. I have been to Memorial and Cameron and much prefer Memorial for atmosphere. granted the Dean Dome is newer, but even the old Carmichael was better than Cameron for a game. Cameron may look good on TV but in person it is crap and the fans are just rude.

A&M's is worst to me or at least the court shows worst on tv. so very drab, even in hd it looks like it's from raycom or jp every time i see them.
