They'd have called if they filled the position with someone else.
I bet you're still in business.

No, I would reach out to them.

All you need is a thank you email, which you should have done last Friday.

Sending a brief email follow up along the lines of "it was great meeting you today, I am very excited about the opportunity' etc" as soon as you get home is never a bad idea either. Be aggressive and show you want it

The place I'm working at just interviewed people for a position open.
There was the white woman that works at the company with zero experience in the field. The new grad with zero field experience and little job experience, but graduated from a good school. There is the black guy that has some experience. Then you have the guy with lots of experience.

Here's your follow up: show up tomorrow morning at 8 o'clock well dressed. Tell the receptionist that your interview went so well and that you feel so connected to this company that you want to get a head start in the event they hire you, and in the event they don't, you don't mind providing your services for free until they bring in whomever they did hire.
Job lock.
Job lock.

Won't get the job, but will get pay raise so as to avoid lawsuit for sex discrimination.

Won't get job. Will go back to living with parents

hen you have the guy with lots of experience.
Will get job, then black guy will sue for racial discrimination. Affirmative action will force company to hire black guy.
Guy with lots of experience has to work at Mcdonalds to get by, while collecting food stamps.

On a slightly related note as far as job hunting goes, nothing crushes my soul quite like sending in a resume for a position the same day it is posted and then seeing the posting taken down two days later without so much as an acknowledgement that the resume has been received or a general notification that the position has been filled. Maybe it's just a pet peeve of mine, but at the very least an HR rep needs to mass e-mail all applicants to notify them that the position has been filled (a lot do this, but a lot do not and it irks me to no end).
I always hated spending over an hour filling out some 10 page job application and then getting a rejection email 2 minutes later.
I guess their computer scanned it and I didn't hit enough keywords.

I've also never given anyone a job because they followed up.
No one gets a job because they followed up. But people who don't follow up are far less likely to get the job.

IMO it's too early. Not calling won't put you out of contention but IMO if you annoy them they may think less of you. Just sayin'

I called 4 times today and got VM every time. Left a message the last time. I don't know the girl's email address. :/
I had that happen to me at my last interview.
Accounting position at a manufacturing place in Greenville, SC. Had a phone interview, goes great. She says call you in a week. Cool. Send a THank you email after the interview.
Week goes by....nothing. Call twice the next day....phone keeps ringing( no voicemail message). Tried to email the chick( same one she used to setup the email)....it gets sent back! Check indeed...o look it's that job I interviewed with.
Alot of places I put apps in didn't want you to do follow ups.
And to whoever said it's demoralizing to get a denied job email after you put in a app is absolutely correct. I thought I was never going to find a job after October passed knowing the new grads in December were coming out. Inbox full of emails from NC,GA, and SC companies.

I think you have probably done all you can. I have never personally hired anyone myself, but I have been involved in the hiring process at several different place and there are usually several moving parts that just take time. If you haven't heard back in a few days maybe call again.
Good luck bro!!

Did you have to fill out paperwork authorizing them to do a background/credit check on you? If so, that can take a little time to get back.

I might have when I applied initially. I can't remember.
