Maybe they're recruiting Johnny and he was in town for a meeting.

That's what I'm thinking, Farmer1906. Something along those lines, anyway
I can't imagine they wouldn't have made a monster marketing announcement/PR push otherwise.
Oh, to be a sought-after HS/college/NFL "recruit." JFF's livin'.

In somewhat related news, Notre Dame just signed with UA. It's a huge move because they were one of Adidas's top brands. However, given their traditional look, it's not a great one imo because you can't really push the limit like Nike does with Oregon and others. A big factor here is also that Michigan's deal is written that Adidas must make them their highest paid college brand.
Anyway, relevant to our interests, Texas A&M's Adidas contract is also coming to a close this year and it appears to be down to Adidas vs UA. I don't think all this is a coincidence with the Manziel/UA stuff

I like UA, Nike, and Adidas. Whoever gives us the most money and doesn't make us look silly like Tech, Ore St, or Maryland then I'm fine with it.

shite man. I really don't like under armour at all. I've grown to love the Adidas, but was hoping for a switch back to nike. Now I guess I'll just hope for them to stay with Adidas.
frick under armour. Cheesy as frick IMO. Their actual compression stuff is fine, but the shoes, jerseys and other apparel

think more time needs to pass on that one. In 07, their opinion was we were too full of ourselves and ours was they weren't good partners. It was sort of an ugly break.

UA has come on and they are making a commitment to college athletics. Probably more so than Adidas really who just plays in the market. I wouldn't judge them totally on past work. They have been niche but are trying to go mainstream

I dunno. Each company has their flagship brands. These are the schools that test new stuff and they use to advertise. Flagships also get significantly more money than the rest. Right now, our contract with Adidas pays us like $1m annually. Michigan makes $8.5m. Michigan and ND have been their flagships. UA has nobody (ND is their first big school).
We have ascended to the point that we have a chance to be a flagship. Our visibility is at an all-time high and we have the swag that these companies want. Kevin Sumlin is an important part of that. He's the guy you want repping your gear. For A&M, being a flagship would be a huge boost and if UA is willing to make us one and Adidas isn't, I'd rather go with UA. The exposure can't be overstated.
But you are right in that it would be a gamble on the future of UA.

Adidas has really treated us well though. The new unis, the solid alternates, the marketing they've done for us (see funky looking camo release) and the contract they gave us absolutely blew the Nike one out of the water. I think both sides have benefited.
I do worry about UA's shoes a little. They still newish to that market while adidas and nike make great cleats.

I've got no complaint about Adidas in general.
Btw, I forgot Auburn was UA as well. They make about $4m per year under their contract. Auburn is obviously a big brand but given the inflation in the marketplace and where we are today, I'll be a little surprised if (whoever we sign with) we don't end up somewhere between Auburn's 4m and ND's 9m. It's just an exceptionally good time for us to be up for renewal.

Whichever one gives us more money. Though I like some continuity in uniforms and I'd hate to see us to UA and have our uniforms all changed up again
I think UA has proven they can pull of the classic look pretty well with Auburn, and I'm interested to see what they do with ND.

Apparently Johnny is "being courted" by UA, Adidas and Nike.

Solid points.

Billy reported that today. Basically what I called a few posts up.

The Baltimore sun tweeted this picture out earlier today captioned, "Johnny Football to Baltimore?" So obviously this is a store in Baltimore, which just so happens to be the Under Armour headquarters. Oh and not to mention Johnny just posted a picture on his Instagram of his view of Baltimore from his hotel room.
In short, there's plenty of smoke to support Johnny & UA. And if you look closely, they photoshopped the Adidas logo off Johnny's jersey.

He's obviously there, but it doesn't mean he signed with them. Regardless I'm picking up a JFF something with whoever he does.

Oh, UA wants him.
As do the other two.
