Do you even know what you're saying- not sure you comprehend the word 'mentality'. I'd say having a loser mentality would fit in with the line of thinking that we can only succeed with Arkansas born coaches? That said, I'd have loved having Strong but I'm not stupid enough to believe he would have had a successful first season either.

This sounds like a thread hawgalude would make...

This goes way beyond this post. Pigfeet has been insufferable for a loooong time, and not just on this subject.
The fact that he's running to the SEC Rant to seek validation is priceless. It's just adorable.

7/10 ... but your baseball team was preseason national champs last year, and that has to count for something.

Sometimes they even drag them onto the SEC Rant for no reason. The Jeff Long Chairman thing is just an excuse to air his grievances on the Rant.

Understandably flaming there should be controlled but a blanket ban with exceptions is the incorrect approach, IMO.

Hey Pigfeets... While I do understand why Jeff Long fired Petrino, his decision to hire Smiley takes the cake, in light of Smiley's financial situation.
I hope like hell Bielema has a winning record this next season but I'm not holding my breath. I'm not a "Long disciple" by a long shot but I'm not yet ready to bail on him.
However, something about his heading the playoff committee makes me very uncomfortable and queezy in the stomach. If he chooses teams the same way he chooses coaches, we're all in for a BIG surprise. And FWIW, I don't feel comfortable with any of the committee members.

Glad Long has kept his hands off of DVH's program, if he does, people will riot.

This ^^^^
People just don't see it, and by the responses you get on the team page, damn, those folks have bought into the Jeff Long PR machine hook, line, and sinker.

As far as baseball, yes. As far as the other "who gives a crap" programs, don't know.

Judging by his AD of the year award and appointment as chairman of the playoff committee, I guess the entire country has bought into the "Jeff Long PR machine."
Yep, you're the smart one. Not everybody else in America.

I mean really? Who gives a crap about his appointments and awards. His job is to turnaround or maintain a program. He's turned it around, around to the shitter.
Conference Winning % under Long
Football- 39%
Basketball- 38%
for the 6 years prior to Long
Football- 52%
Basketball- 41%
Yep, he knows how to build a program.

Of course dumbasses who don't actually have degrees from the university they follow tend to miss the fricking point.
Here's a rough guideline as to whether or not an Athletic Director is in danger of losing his job...
Is the athletic department making a profit?
If yes, he's safe, if not, he's in trouble.
Considering that Arkansas is the 2nd most profitable athletic department in the SEC, 11th in the country and Jeff Long has doubled our revenue since taking over as AD he's not going anywhere and he shouldn't.
Athletics exist merely as a way to supplement the fundraising and promotion of the university in its academic pursuits (hint, athletic donations tend to be about 1/7th of the academic donations).

I tried to tell all of you that Bielema was is a joke
Not a fit for the sec while I do think he could do well up north in the likes of Iowa or Nebraska. He is out of his league here
