This thread made me think of checking because I had not seen SC anywhere close to the top 10 for recruiting for this year so I checked and they are currently 26. Spurrier is obviously a great coach that does more with Les with his players but it seems like if he could recruit a little better consistently that it would make them more of a threat nationally (perception wise). Instead they seem to be though of as just a solid team every year that will make a run at the east but always lose a game they shouldn't.

We've been in the Top 20 for recruiting the past few years. This year the numbers are tight butthole, we only have 4 Sr's graduating. So we've had to be really...discerning with our offers and recruiting overall. We should get a fistful of the highly ranked guys we've been after for the year in the end. (Wes Green, DJ Smith, Prince, Scott, Wideman, Caldwell, Ford (at least some combination of those guys listed.)) I expect our recruiting class to be ranked again in the Top 20 this year and if the right guys commit, Top 15. We'll see what happens.

Although, it's like you said, we do a good job with what we get. Guys like Captain Munnerlyn, Norwood, Ingram, Shaw, Pharoh Cooper, etc... were all 3 star guys or less, but now they are either Pro, going Pro, or FR All Americans (Pharoh Cooper)
