This is the start of a new round of complaining from sportswriters that we will be hearing over the next few years. One version will be when they realize that this new 4 team playoff raises more questions and is more unfair than the BCS, because there are more teams that have an argument for #4 than #2.

This column represents the second version of writer complaining. For years, they have whined: "We hate the bowls, give us a playoff" Now, it will be, "On no...we are losing the traditional Rose Bowl."

Most sports writers are from the northeast or PAC12 fans. They want a playoff to stop SEC dominance of the NC, but they want the rose bowl because it reminds them of a time when the rust belt and SoCal were the axis this country revolved around.

Can't have it both ways.

Baylor vs. Missouri anyone?

is that no more cringe worthy than say a Nebraska vs. Utah 'traditional' rose bowl?

the playoff is going to be great for Jan 1st... it will bring back the excitement that has disappeared over the last decade or so.

That's a silly perspective to have. The point of the playoff is to crown the "best team" as champion. The "best team" is less likely to be left out in a playoff than in the BCS because 4 teams are chosen rather than just 2.

didn't read.

There is a pretty sizable team talent dropoff when we look at teams 4-6.

There's always going to be gnashing of teeth, but those first 3 spots are going to be salty teams. The best will win on the field.

Winning a championship on the field through multiple rounds is ALWAYS better than getting to a game solely based upon computer rankings and human polls.
