2009 Bama IMO. They were the worst of the SEC champs since 2003 that had the most breaks go their way. From the original list...

quote:

2009 - The hand of fate (Cody vs. UT)

That was a game saving/winning FG block on the last play that happens when? About once every 20 years in SEC games? Can anyone name when a team blocked a relatively short fg to win an SEC game on the final play or in the final seconds in the last 2 decades? Last 3 decades? I dunno, nothing comes to mind and it is a play that happens infinitely less than completing a 4th and 18 to win a game (AU vs UGA). In fact no play in any SEC team that won a NC was as uncommon as that one IMO.

quote:

2009 - The drive at Auburn

Another one, but not so much luck. Bama was fortunate converting so many 3rd downs, but they made the plays.

quote:

2009 - SEC refs

Wasn't that the year PP7 got the pic and bama's replay guy wouldn't reverse it? I think LSU wins if the replay guy does his job.

quote:

2009 - McCoy goes down

Yes. Texas would have beaten bama by two TDs otherwise IMO.

quote:

2009 - Gilbert fumbles to stop the comeback

Not a lucky play. Good defense to cause a fumble.

2011 bama is second. They did not win the SEC and needed a huge upset to even make it to the game. Okie State had a better resume as well. Bama should not have been in the game at all, so this is #2, but only because 2009 really did involve an insane amount of luck/fortune.

2012 bama was not really lucky IMO. There was no other team that had an argument to be in the game. Stanford was not a surprise when they won. Baylor was, but not that crazy. And bama beat UGA in a tough game that was not luck, just either team could have won. I will put them at #4 on the list, behind...

2013 AU. Only thing that was lucky about AU this year was the tip against UGA. Not often you complete 4th and 18, but it pales in comparison to number #1 and 2 on the list. The drive against State involved zero luck. The "horse collar" was a judgement call that could easily be argued either way as the defender had Manziel's arm before his collar and their is absolutely no guarantee A&M scores anyway. AU's redzone D has been near top of the SEC all year. Bama game, AU pushed bama around on both sides of the ball which is why bama had to keep attempting fgs anyway. Could never get a yard when they needed to and AU could and did all game. Still, the UGA tip was enough for the #3 spot.

2010 AU didn't need any luck. Clemson makes the fg in overtime, AU probably wins in the next OT anyway. As for the fumble, bad calls in that IB were the only reason bama was in the game and even with them, AU took the lead in the 3rd quarter. Bama was a lot "luckier" than AU in that game overall.

So,

2009 Bama
2011 Bama
(these two are in their own league)

2013 AU

2012 Bama
2010 AU
(these two didn't need luck)

Let's see this literally happened a few years prior with Florida blocking a last second FG by south carolina in 2006 that preserved their chance at a national title

lol. You act like auburn threw an 18 yard touchdown pass. It was a 73 yard prayer that was tipped by a defender

See first point. Your syndrome is showing

Pretty sure Florida did that against USC in 2006.
