I know AU had to stop recruiting Winston because of improper contact, but that wasn't enrolling

trying to think of a situation where a player wasn't allowed to enroll other than more obvious serios violation issues or even grade stuff masking violation issues like Jovon Robinson (and obviously whole story came out later)

A few years back a player KU was recruiting hard was playing at a HS for an away game. Some KU fans who were part of a officially recognized fan club of KU went to the game wearing KU gear. After the game they approached him and the reports only stated they told him great game and hoped he would come to KU. But it was deemed by the NCAA that the fans were boosters due to their association with the club and being season ticket holders. Hence they acted as representatives of the school and caused a violation that prevented the recruit from signing with KU. I will see if I can find the article. It was like 5 or so years ago.
