Part of me thinks we need to play Neck as its supposed to be played, or not at all
Exhibit 1. UAPB Neck
As it stands now, white bread University of Arkansas is playing a white bread version of LSU's song, which is a white bread version of Neck to begin with. Too many knockoffs
The only reason we play it at all is because we hired LSUs band guy and he brought it with him
Let's do it right or not at all, which likely means not at all

I'm good with not at all

Not at all.
Its LSU's song in the SEC. I know lots of schools play it now, but it still reminds me of LSU.

I would rather we didn't play it but...
as long as our new director keeps bringing his LSU music to the Hog band we might as well play it hood.
And add the "Suck that piggy d***, b*tch"

more like 4ths or 5ths
USCjr plays it. Pretty sure another school or two in the SEC do as well. We're really being cutting edge.
When I was in band we could vote on some songs we wanted to introduce. One of the finalists was "Arkansas Traveler". I think that would be cool if there is a good arrangement of it

if i was the band director, i would have already found me a solid al green song to arrange.
or really anything that might connect with the locals.
except that.

What?!
It would be a perfect new go-to song for Bubba Hog to dance to. Have another video recorded on the PigScreen of him doing his jig with some animated pigs colliding with the opponent's helmet making it explode. It will be SO TIGHT!

Always been that way. NCAA tournaments were so embarrassing when we had a swagged out nightmare of a team and the pep band was the polar opposite.

Yeah, but can still come up with some more hip tunes.
Pregame is old and tired, time to ditch Swing March.
William Tell has run it's course too.
BTW, I was in a college band for 5 years myself.

On second thought, it's okay if you don't want to come to anymore games

You just picked the two songs the band plays that actually gets the crowd going a bit.
Here's the problem I have with the band - they don't seem to correlate their music to anything that's going on on the field. I think it was the Miss State game - we got a turnover, the crowd was pumped, and the band sat there for a minute, then started playing this song that did nothing to help the atmosphere - rather killed it, in fact. I mean, play the fight song or something, in that situation.
And I'm just going to set this here - the 2001 Space Odyssey/Arkansas flag thing should be left for BWA. It does nothing in an open air football stadium and the visiting band is frequently louder (consequence of most of it being drums) and you can't hear it anyway.

We had a tuba player who wrote some stuff a few years back for both football and basketball. He wrote arrangements for Make it Rain, Heisman theme, and Stronger. He did a good job- the band could use more folks like him.

Sorry folks, if it offends you...
I have been in the field of music practically all my life, performing, teaching etc. Been gigging on guitar/trombone/vocals for over 30 years now.
I was in a very good college band program - played lead tbone in the jazz band, 1st chair in the symphonic band and marching band... not tooting my own horn (ha, pun intended) but just letting you know that I do have some experience in the area.
Swing March and William Tell doesn't do it for me anymore. And doesn't really seem to do it for the folks that sit around me. Plus the tempo at which they have to play the fight song at so they can march (pregame on field) to, it seems to kind of trudge along.
If y'all still dig it, that's great for y'all.
But I know that something better could be figured out.
ETA: For anyone that might know, who is the arranger of the version of The Star Spangled Banner they are doing now? Love it.
