Do you pay homage to your deer (or any animal) before moving them?

Hi, long time reader of the OB way before I joined the site, just wanted to ask this. As I was with my son this past weekend in the woods, it dawned on me that a very important part of what my dad taught me was thanking God and nature for your take prior to touching it. For giving us the physical ability to hunt, our graciousness for the animals, the trees, the land, etc.
Do others do this? I believe it to be a very important part of hunting that should be passed down to the next generation. It's a connection to our world that we should feel privleged to have, to feed our families with what God and nature has provided, and by doing so, have a part of nature become a part of us forever.
I'm not talking about crying over the animal, just placing your hand on it and saying a small prayer or message of thanks, whether to God or nature, or both, whatever you believe.

Just like the ingins used to do. Seems pretty appropriate IMO

I generally give thanks at the table when I eat the animal. If it is an animal I do not plan on eating I give thanks at that time. If it is a hog I curse the devil, praise my gun, and go on with my day.

Birds not so much.

I don't believe in God, so no prayer, but always respect something after I kill it. I appreciate it fully

My son ran up and hugged the deer after he killed his first one last weekend. Then we smeared the blood all over his face. Mom wasn't too keen on that picture. I feel like you should treat them respectfully, but you did just kill them.
I try to take decent pictures of the kill. Tuck the tongue back in the mouth, etc. I will put the deer's tongue back in too, if it is hanging out.

I don't pay homage. I'm trying to end it's life. It ain't always pretty. It's serious business.

Generally I kill the deer. Drag it into the food plot or somewhere I can get the bike to. Then I go to camp, open a beer, drive bike to deer, load deer up, skin and debone deer, put deer in guy bucket and go dump it in the ditch.

The 7 mag paid enough homage when that sweet sweet thump rang out and ended its life.

First thing I do is walk up and cut the throat so they bleed out properly I feel like that needs to be, although that is a I'm one with mother nature and God helped me shoot the deep type thing.
And as mentioned by someone else, I do try and pray before I eat and give thanks for the food, if that counts.
