Just think how good MM could have been if he had stayed at DB? He would be a shutdown corner in the SEC and may have not lost him. Anyway, we have enough damn skill players that can play both sides of the ball. We do not have the depth at DB, as we had in previous seasons. If Gurley and Marshall do not get hurt, do we play J.J at DB? Anyway, we have to develop Shaq into the guy and I pray he doesn't turn out like Branden Smith. What happened to that kid?

Sort of wishful thinking. Mitchell was looking a lot better at receiver than he was as a defensive back. I think our staff recognized that pretty quickly and moved him back to WR full time. As for the injury, it could have happened at either position. It wasn't like he took a direct hit in that area like Marshall did.

I agree, I was just thinking how much better he would have been than Swann and Shaq. We are pretty deep at reciever anyway, so why not use him where we need more leadership and depth?

Or just recruit better DB's in the first place.

Or don't recruit DB's that will steal from their own teammates!

For real. For Richt to be such a devote Christian with a general good guy image, we sure get our share of thugs.

No shite. That really did hurt our depth in the secondary and now we get to watch Auburn "compete" for an NC with a guy that should have been charged with Grand Larceny. The convict dynasty continues.

As for Langley, he was a whiny bitch at the Mark Richt camp a few years ago. Word is he pouted because he didn’t feel as if UGA was showing him enough attention. Get the prima donnas out of here
I had very uncomplimentary things to say about Langley during his recruitment for this very reason. I backed off him once he signed his LOI and even made a point to say on here that I could've been wrong about him as a person and his character, but now that things have settled in for a year, I might not have been that far off the mark.
That said, he's a Dawg now and I wish him the best so long as he plays for us.

I don't think athleticism is what we're missing at the DB positions...they just don't know where the hell they are. I doubt throwing someone in who will be a first year DB will be much improvement.

Well there is a void in talent at both safety spots in the NFL. Point being that Rambo was able to get a starting job being a 6th round pick and all.
Maybe Terry sees this as an opportunity.

Meanwhile, thugs will be thugs, and while CMR might be able to change a few lives here and there, a lot of them don't want to change, and we suffer as a team.
On the other hand, if those same players go to other universities, much of their behavior may be covered up so that they don't miss playing time.

This topic took a dirty turn.
Langley was doing something right to get the starting job. He didn't finish his true freshman year as an all sec cb. No reason to think he wont get alot better.
Some on this board touted Swann as a lockdown corner during the offseason, now those same expert talent evaluators are throwing Langley under the bus.
As far as his attitude, as we perceive it, during his recruitment, kids that age learn their manners from their peers, unfortunately. Thats no reason to hate him. He obviously had a good attitude preseason to get the start over all the other talented kids gunning for the same spot.
Im going to ask bdv for a langley sig later because he is now my fav player.
Brendan "The Lion" Langley bitches

Valid perspective IMHO.

@RadiNabulsi: I was told Brendan Langley might jump to wide receiver. Think that would be a great fit for him. He was deadly at Kell with the ball.
So I have been thinking about it and honestly I kinda like the idea of him at WR if he has decent hands. I mean, the dude is pretty damn big IIRC

I'll never forget the UF basketball players getting arrested with one of the GAs and while they're being recorded in the back seat of a police cruiser the GA starts saying "This isn't Gainesville, we're going to jail here"

This is silly. We don't have any more thugs than any other college in America. The difference is a)we follow this program far more than we follow others and b)our administration is hellbent on punishing the slightest transgressions. Do you really think someone jaywalking, or not paying a speeding ticket, or driving the wrong way down a 1 way street, or driving a scooter without a proper license would make state newspapers and result in suspensions at other SEC schools?
Of course they don't. That doesn't mean those things don't happen, it's just nobody at those schools GAS about it because it's so petty and insignificant. At the very least, relating to your original thought, we punish the thugs we do have. At other schools they can kick people in the face outside of bars or fail 5 drug tests or get kicked out of other schools and be welcomed with open arms.
