Does that put HCGP at the top of their wish list?
Does HCGP go? He has a lot of ties to that program since he was there under Don James. Could that be his ultimate destination job?

I understand your thinking, and if Pinkel were going to leave for any other program, it would probably be Washington. But it's just not happening. We're not getting Anderson'ed again. Pinkel is too old and established to seriously contemplate leaving Mizzou right now. Even if they break the bank to entice him, I don't think there's any chance he leaves.

Didn't Washington take a shot at Pinkel when they hired Sark?

exactly. IF and it is a big IF Washington makes a serious play for him I think it would be very hard for him to turn them down.

If I remember correctly they just kicked the tires. I don't think they made a serious play.
With Coach James passing does that add to any emotional factor in HCGP's decision?

He's pretty old at this point. In his 60's.

He's built something that is completely his.

I don't think he's going anywhere. He'll probably retire a Tiger.

I'm not even sure U Dub would want Pinkel. They'd probably be best suited to get someone with more recent PAC ties.

They should probably give Orgeron a call.

This isn't happening, and I hope it doesn't become a distraction this week.

I think Pinkel's tie was to James, not necessarily UW.

The question is would he leave an SEC Championship caliber team to go coach a PAC12 team?

Yeah, no.

Don't see it happening either. 5 years ago? Maybe. He's too old himself to start over. Washington probably wants someone they can get more than a few years out of.

There are other guys out there from the James family tree.

Pinkels too old for this kind of nonsense. Like others said, this won't happen.

Washington should go after someone younger with PAC12 recruiting ties.

If they come after Pinkel, Alden will offer him more.

Agree with you all BUT, would they raid the cupboard? Josh Henson has done an outstanding job this year and IF you were looking for a young coach, a recommendation from GP's UW ties might help? Just stimulating conversation......

What would be the bigger loss?
I would have to think coach Henson is a big reason we are starting to get recruits in the SEC part of the country since he has ties down there.

I agree. I also would be concerned that a return to the former offensive scheme would be eminent. Wyoming fired Christenson yesterday.

Christensen's scheme wasn't bad. It was all the Yosting we were doing that sucked.

IMHO, it's like the jackass. You can't tell which one (horse) bred the other (mule).

Would Josh Henson want that job? I realize it's a hc position, but you have to think he would be in pretty good position to take over for Pinkel once he calls it quits.

It's actually a pretty good job, although probably won't be as good as they once were.

And it's probably in the coolest non-college town type of city.

That being said, I don't think the prospect of UW picking up a former coordinator from over twenty years ago's first year offensive coordinator for a PAC 12 program is really appealing for them or anyone else.

Plus, let's be honest, the Pinkel coaching tree isn't really, umm... existent enough to make taking that kind of risk seem worth it.

Henson probably has a few more years as a coordinator before a ULL or Arkansas State calls and gets his attention. Hopefully by then he'll have developed into someone that can replace a retiring Coach Pinkel.
