Not the first time I've heard this. A lot of folks really like the atmosphere at the Peach Bowl, and the payout is IIRC the highest among non-BCS bowls. Plus, that they match up SEC #5/6 with the ACC #2 ensures that it's usually a pretty decent and evenly matched game.

Plus it has a pretty captive NYE audience and no competitors, unlike the morning/early afternoon Florida bowls.

I think if you could guarantee Michigan, OSU, Penn State and Nebraska were populating those games every year, it wouldn't be as much of a problem. But when it is Wisconsin every year, or Northwestern, or MSU, or Iowa it just isn't very fun.

So will the SEC's perception of the Peach Bowl change when it is an access bowl next year?

It's not the bowl itself. But for LSU after you go to the same bowl multiple times over a short period, plus going to the same stadium/town for the SEC championship and the season opener on a neutral field all in a couple of years span it really loses it's appeal.

Since 2006 LSU has played in there 6 times if you count the Chicken bowl, SEC Championships, and the Chik-Fil-A classic to open the season.

Yea the Chik-fil-A bowl is the only one going on at the time, it has the spotlight all to itself. It also has one of the highest payouts of the non-BCS games. They put on a great event. There's a reason they're joining the rotation of the 6 playoff bowls.
