Arky and South Carolina were added in 1992 and were nothing for several years.

A&M and Mizzou have made an immediate impact and have also weakened the Big 12, which I don't think a lot of people saw coming. If Mizzou and A&M were in the Big 12 right now the conference would be considered much more relevant than it currently is, and they would be 2 of the top 3 teams in the conference along with Baylor.

Pretty amazing timing by the SEC to add these teams.

In all honesty, ever think maybe the curators of your schools might have known what they were buying with A&M and Mizzou? Hell Mizzou's BB team alone doubles the prestige of the SEC,

On a serious note, our volleyball team is undefeated at 31-0, bet you didn't see that coming!

Idk if the addition of Mizzou really did a whole lot. They're averaging 3.5 SEC wins a season and are definitely not in the Southeast.

They better hope their football program can hang on to what little success they're having right now because they literally add nothing else.

Best additions in the expansion rush.

B1G's Nebraska grab looked great initially but NU is going to nose dive into Minnesota/Illinois status and the Rutgers/UMD adds were only about money and don't bring much else to the table.

PAC 12 moves were meh.

ACC and Big XII were purely reactionary.

Glad to be here was pissed when it didn't happen the first time. I hope we can continue our success in all sports and continue to help build the best athletic conference in the world.

Thanks for the rare compliment heard on this board from other SEC fan bases. Interesting that the few who recognize the value of TAMU and Mizzou joining the SEC, have more often than not, been Bama fans.

Really don't understand why so many get hung up on geography, pop, and y'all. Don't we all play the game by the same rules?

Most Mizzou fans are thrilled to be a part of the SEC and expect the move will be of great benefit to our sports programs. ( Except for wrestling) Baseball and golf will be a challenge (geography hurts us in those sports) but we will keep working on that.

And every SEC fan would be saying "Yeah, but they're doing it in the Big 12. If they played an SEC, they'd be in the middle of the pack and unranked."

Things I've learned in this thread:

1. Nebraska is going to shite and will not be seen as a solid realignment move over the long haul.

2. Mizzoue and SCe are bringing their Columbia rivals status along solidly.

and thus 3. Arkansas out of another top rival position having lost Mizzoue to SCe.

I hate Arkansas just as much as the next guy but they won a Natty in basketball tier first year in the league ... Gotta give them some props for that.

The key to the A&M and Mizzou additions is both schools were diamonds in the rough. Both schools are strong academically with plenty of resources and growth potential, they just needs a place they could grow.

It's been a great move for both sides.

The Big 1G bought high on Nebraska. Almost immediately after they were admitted they lost their AAU status. Their recruiting has been cut off at the knees and they are being exposed for what they are. A lightly populated Midwestern state school with modest resources. They cannot realistically compete with Ohio State, Penn State, or Michigan on a long term basis. Rutgers and Maryland make no sense at all in the Big 1G except in terms of being state AAU schools.

TCU and WVU were low resource schools that could overachieve in weak conferences. They have no chance of doing anything long term against schools that are more prominent and have more resources. I don't know how WVU is going to recruit with no rivals and most of their road games a thousand miles away in a different time zone.

The Pac 12 got 2 "meh" additions with Utah and CU. CU has made a conscious effort to stop investing in football at all. Utah is a resource limited school from a modestly populated state where most people are BYU fans.

I think it was the best for both Mizzou and aTm and the SEC. We may have a better record so far this year than last year, but......we have'nt done anything yet. There's still two more games to go. Then if we're lucky enough to win those two games, then we have a shear cliff to climb in just competing with Bama in the SEC-CG. So until all this takes place, I'm not ready to get too excited.

I think it was no secret that the big 12 being weakened when Mizzou was the final pick to go the SEC. As a matter of fact, the big 12 looked at one point like it may not survive losing the teams that left. There was alot of doubt going on. I think when the big 10 rejected Mizzou before all this happened, the Bevo 12 took this as a weakness and misjudged thier bounds and it backfired on them.

But most Mizzou fans are glad to be here instead of there. Being treated like a second class citizen in your own conference is hard to stomach year after year.

That's not really accurate. We we're fairly competitive in Basketball and Baseball in the conference at various intervals during the 90's we just weren't very good at football. In fact we won the sec in in basketball in 97. Just saying.

OP is right, Arkansas was an awful addition to the SEC in 1992

Disagree on the "several years" though.....at what point have they risen to relevancy in their time in the SEC? Did I miss a Heisman or top 5 finish somewhere in there?

4 and counting CBS games in one season?

450M stadium renovation?
