I agree. To bad the fans are ruining what use to be the greatest atmosphere in college sports.

To our mascot to the field, everything about LSU is a sight to behold.

Thanks OP.
Another accolade (and rightly so) for TS!
Somehow, I wish our Admin (Alleva, et al) would make a concerted effort to educate this generation of Tiger fans on all the things that gave TS its reputation. Instead, they'll give us another dose of pom-poms, towels, or piped-in music.

quote:
1. LSU - From the eye of the tiger at midfield, the alternating colors in the end zone, the yard markers every five and the throwback goal posts, this is the Fenway Park of college football fields.
Too bad the guy who draws the eye of the tiger can't get awarded for his design thanks to Bayou Country Superfest killing the grass every year.

I wish our grass colors alternated like they did in the 70''s and 80's

I understand the tradition, but watching the every 5 yards marked on the LSU field is one of the worst things for watching a game on tv. I watch every LSU game as my wife is an alum When a player is running you see a constant string of numbers. When someone gets tackled near a 5 yard line you first look up and realize you have to go to one of the ten's to see what side of the field it is (if you had been looking at something else during the play).
Everything else is great about LSU's field.

Field used to look better with the purple and gold sidelines from 2000-2001 seasons. Get some shrubbery or something lining the fence too

2, 3, 5, 7, and 8 B are unremarkable.
LSU's is definitely worthy of a top 5 ranking, but I couldn't help but notice all the brown patches in the field. I'm guessing that LSU uses grass, so the field goes through cycles of being magnificent versus neat.

I wanna see John Chavis's face in the endzones looking mean and fierce!

LSU belongs in Top Ten, but not #1.
LSU logos in end zones are way too small, as is the Tiger Eye.
Fasbender apparently doesn't know how to paint or directionally mow the alternating light-dark pattern every five yards. Makes the field look better, so let's not do it! That's laziness.

I love the look of LSU's field. The end zones pop because of the alternate coloring and the 5 yard markings look so much better than 10. The eye doesn't need an explanation.
