If we get down by 2 scores will we see Mauk? 3 scores? Hopefully we smoke em and it's a moot point.

I just can't shake this feeling that he comes our really rusty. He's already proved me wrong more than once this year. Hopefully he does it again. I suppose it depends on how we fall behind. If he throws a perfect ball that's caught 10 yards down field and the WR fumbles it and it's returned for 6, I can't blame Franklin for that.

I know what you mean. I really can't say who is the better QB. I do think Mauk throws a Damn nice deep ball. We are 6-0 with Franklin as the starter though so I guess there's that.

Mauk plays with no fear. Can be good. Can be bad. I just hope Franklin comes out clicking on all cylinders.

Not nearly as worried as I would have been without the bye week.

I think two weeks back taking first team snaps will knock any rust off that may be there.

Just my opinion, but there is a reason Franklin was named the starter this year, and a reason the coaches never even seemed to consider that there could be a QB controversy. When he's healthy again, it's his team. That's because the coaches think he's the better, more experienced QB and will give us the best chance to win.

Mauk got some great experience, and did a very good job for us. I feel better about next season. But, he's not James Franklin, and this is Franklin's team. Don't forget, he's also a captain. His leadership can't be understated.

I think his leash will be long.

To put it simply, He's gonna catch fire this weekend. This is bad news for Ole Miss. I don't see them gameplanning around his injury. Pinkel will run the same offense he has ran from day one. If the option is there for Franklin to run, he'll run.

I would think so too (although it's a tough call).

OM is just such a funny team, no clue what to expect from them.

I just don't see snaps in practice the same as snaps in the game. Hope I look like a fool for being so worried about it.

Unless he's showing signs of being hurt there is no leash. MM only plays when we're up by 30 in the 4th.....yeah Ole Miss fans I said it.

I think he's making OM prepare. I'd guess Mauk gets one or two series in the second half unless we're up by 30.

Yep. Force them to prepare for both. Smart.

Yup, hell a lot of what Mauk has been doing on the field, it's been noted quite openly in reports, has involved Franklin talking to him on the sidelines about things he is seeing on the field from the defense and which read Mauk should go with etc.

The "Mauk throws a good deep ball" argument is just too simplistic. Maty does do that well indeed, but so does James. Simple fact is Maty still makes plays at times that result in substantial negative yardage by breaking out of the pocket too fast or trying to improvise. Franklin is just more reliable about running this actual offense the way its designed to be run, and its a great offense. Mauk will get there, but I do feel like the "he should start/he is better" types tend to just focus on individual Mauk highlight throws that they like and aren't really looking at the entire course of the game.

I think you're probably right. Seems to me like we're in pretty good hands either way. I think Franklin is going to be fired up for the final games of his college career, and his leadership will be invaluable. Not trying to jinx anything, but at least we know if he does go down again we have a competent backup to take the reins.

Couldn't agree more.

Definitely. I'm less worried about next year, for sure.

If this is accurate. Then He may be splitting time between them. He may have one play for a half then the other. I can't see Pinkel platooning at QB. Has he ever done it in the past?
