I read an interesting stat yesterday.
So the only other guy to come close was McCluster who had 5 straight to Mike's 7 straight.
quote:
Mike has had at least 130 yards from scrimmage in 7 straight SEC games and 8 straight games overall. Since 2000, no SEC player has had an overall streak or conference game streak that long. The closest is Dexter McCluster who had a 5 SEC game and 6 game overall streak to end his career.

I think so... but hey I'm biased!

If he finishes on the plus side of 1400 yds rushing and 600 yds receiving, I will say yes.

No, don't you know that he's not even the best back according to some on the Rant?

Doing a little research. The SEC RB with the most yards going back to 2004.
'12 - UGA Gurley, 1385 yards, 117 yards, 14 games
'11 - UAe Richardson, 1679 yards, 338 rec yards, 14 games
'10 - USC Lattimore, 1179 yards, 412 rec yds, 13.25 games
'09 - UAe Ingram, 1658 yards, 334 rec yds, 14 games
'08 - UGA Moreno, 1400 yards, 392 rec yds, 13 games
'07 - UAw McFadden, 1830 yards, 164 rec yds, 13 games
'06 - UAw McFadden, 1647 yards, 149 rec yds, 13 games
'05 - Aub Irons, 1293 yards, 164 rec yds, 13 games
'04 - UF Fason, 1267 yards, 266 rec yds, 13 games
Through 9 games in '13, Mike Davis is:
1058 yards, 326 rec yards.
He could play 4 to 5 more games.
If you avg out his output from the past 9 games, we get. 117 yards of rushing and 36 yards of receiving each game. That would mean (if he played 5 more games) he could end up with:
1643 yards of rushing, and 506 yards of receiving, for a 14 Game Total Yardage of 2,149, which would put him at the MOST TOTAL YARDAGE for an SEC RB during the BCS era.

It's kind of hard to believe how well he has played this year. I knew he was good, but I certainly didn't see him being this consistently dominate. I thought him and Wilds would be going pretty much 50/50, but Mike has completely overshadowed him.
MD28 is a straight beast.

A big part of that is Wilds has been out since UCF, so MD28's workload increased. WIth Wilds back, I don't know if we'l see MD28 get more than 20 carries.

True but even early in the season you could tell MD was the feature back.
coming into the season, I thought Wilds was going to have a bigger role and not essentially playing in garbage time. the majority of his carries have come when we had a sizeable lead.

I'll say no for now. A little early to be putting this on him, no? Think about how many great RBs have come through the SEC since '98. A TON.
Anybody can pick out certain stats to make their guy/team look the best.
I absolutely believe he has the ability to become one of the greatest, but lets let him prove it before we crown him. He still has a few more games this year and at least a whole nother season so as long as he continues doing what he's doing, he will climb that ladder.

Let's see if he can hang a buck forty on the Gators. Florida's D is still plenty stout. But Mike Davis has been some kind of special this season, on and off the field. He just keeps producing.

Going by production and what I saw on the field with my own eyes, Darren McFadden is the best running back in the SEC in the BCS era. That's not to take away anything from Davis though because he's playing outta his skull.

Yeah sheesh. Believe me we saw him too. The guy owned us. Yeah, he was better than Davis. Guy was unreal.

I agree. McFadden was the best I have seen. He struck fear in the hearts of defenses each time he touched the ball.

Yeah I'm still scared by our defense vs McFadden to say it's anyone else at the moment.

Just echoing everyone else: McFadden is the best I've seen in person. What an awful day in the stands that was.

Yea I'll never forget McFadden rushing for 300+ yards on us in 07 I think. That dude was a beast.

Didn't Felix Jones also have around 200 yards?
Good God, that game was terrible

Definitely a scary backfield.

D. McFadden: 34 carries, 321 yards, 9.1 ypc, 1 TD (DMAC also threw 1 pass for a TD)
F. Jones: 13 carries, 166 yards, 12.8 ypc, 3 TDs
P. Hillis: 6 carries, 35 yards, 5.8 ypc
Amazingly, we didn't get blown out and we had them beat in every other statistical category other than rushing.
Amazing backfield.
