I am actually looking forward to MSU basketball this year. I haven't said that for years.
I don't have high hopes that we will be a good team, but I would like to see improvement as we work our way back to being somewhat competitive.
Ray actually runs an offense. That's something. The guys have experience in the system, and a little more depth. If we can just avoid suspensions and major injuries, I think we can get to 0.500 this year.

Isn't it sad that we're excited about having a coach that actually coaches?
ETA: I love Rick Ray btw

Me too. I don't expect a lot of success but I expect basketball games that I actually enjoy watching. First time I have said that in well over five years.

We are on about the same time line. I think a lot of people are.
Also, I think the rule changes this year are going to help us. It will be up to the refs to enforce the rules, but if they do, teams that actually try to run some motion offense are going to benefit.
These rules include:
• Keeping hand or forearm on an opponent.
• Putting two hands on an opponent.
• Continually jabbing an opponent by extending an arm or placing a hand or forearm on the opponent.
• Using an arm bar to impede the progress of a dribbler.

Yep. With our out-of-conference games and playing a bunch of mediocre SEC teams, there should be a lot of competitive bball games to watch this year. At least it will be entertaining. If only we had Lewis to give Ware some rest.

I actually think we'll be a solid team until Ware or Borchert get in foul trouble.

I will be. Just stopped by the ticket office to pick up my parking pass.

I will be there tonight. I have been to ONE game per year for the last 5 or 6 years. I am not declaring myself fully recovered from the shitfest years, but I am going for at least 2 games this year. I already have tickets for SELU in Tupelo.

Totally agree. We have 6 solid players in Chicken, Fred, Gavin, Colin, Roquez, and IJ. Beyond those 6 our depth is RAIL THIN with Jalen and Wendell getting kicked off of the team. Our lack of size and sheer depth is going to hurt us when we get in foul trouble and play teams with bigger front lines.

You won't regret it. This team isn't the most talented but they hustle and make plays. They are fun to watch.

So do you wish we still had Stansbury?

Only for his recruiting ability.
If Ray can somehow land Malik Newman (who he was watching play last night in his team's opener) I will change my tune and eat the biggest plate of crow ever.
I just feel that our staff, just like in football needs to improve our recruiting. We can't get back to where were were in the 2000's with only bringing in 3 star guys.
We constantly had 4 and 5 star guys on all of our NCAA tourney teams. Mario Austin, Timmy Bowers, Ontario Harper, Shane Power, Lawrence Roberts, Jamont, Rhodes, etc. etc.

I went to every Sweet 16 game under Stans.

I agree, I enjoyed watching them last year. Watching a Stans team was usually frustrating, so I enjoyed the change of pace even if we were not winning much.

Speaking of Newman, what are our chances with him? A glance at the recruiting sites would lead you to believe most don't have any faith he stays in state.

Actually Andre Applewhite will be a solid player. Those of you who are at the game will see/ or already have seen flashes of a pretty good talent.
If Jacoby Davis can come back from his injury we will be a post player or two from having a full squad that isn't bad.
