Bama fans look pathetic trying to deny that AU deserved the 1983 NC

But you just said Alabama had 7 national titles using the criteria from the OP. Using that logic Auburn doesn't even sniff 1983.

Weird.

True.

Honestly I dunno how many I would consider bama to have. I've stated before I'll consider a team the national champ if a preponderance of the evidence indicates the team was the best and most deserving team in the country.

For example i don't think AU was the best team in the country in 1993 even though AU was the only undefeated team at the end of the year. Or most deserving as I think the 1993 team would have lost to UF in the SECCG and probably in a bowl game to FSU.

On the flip side, AU in 1983 was the most deserving by a HUGE margin and most likely the best, no other team beat as many quality teams (or even close), AU beat the team that absolutely blew out Miami (Florida), and AUs loss was the second game of the season to team that was the 3rd best in the country due to turnovers and a punt return for a TD. Ftr, 1983 best teams were AU, UGA, Texas, Florida in that order. Miami was 5th best tops, probably 6th as Nebraska probably beats them on a neutral field.

As for bama, the rose bowl wins are certainly not championships or even close as the best teams in the country back then never played in the rose bowl and always turned down the invite. I think bama was like the 8th or 9th choice for one of those rose bowls after the top 7 or 8 teams declined.

That last NC Bama won adds 2d6 to all Crimson Tide fans' security rating. We are very secure.

Texas blew Auburn out at Jordan Hare. By your own logic they are more deserving. Their ownly loss was by 1 pt in a neutral site game.

They won 20-7. They scored on an interception early in the game and a punt return for a TD. AU had a 98 yard drive that ended in a fumble on the 1 yard line that literally ate up the entire 3rd quarter (11 minute drive). Pat dye also says it was the worst coaching job of his career because AU came out throwing the entire first half and used Bo Jackson as a decoy. Second half AU ran all over Texas and Texas got 1 first down the entire half. That 98 yard drive ending in a fumble and spotting Texas 20 points in the first half with turnovers and special teams was the only reason AU didn't win by 10.

Play that game 10 times, AU wins 7. Play it at the end of the season instead of beginning, AU wins 8 or 9.

Oh and that neutral site loss was to the team AU dominated on the road the second to last game of the season.

Son the coaches put the barn 3rd.

Not 2nd....3rd. Take your beef up with them.

Did y'all get any 1st place votes in the coaches polls at all?

You can't say that. After going up 20 Akers took his foot off the gas. Auburn was dominated in that game.

If Nebraska played Miami 10 times they win 9 and no one is having this conversation. Hell if Nebraska had kicked an extra point they are unanimous national champs.

Boy, I don't care how the coaches popularity contest ended.

Objectively AU was the 1983 national champ no matter how bad it chaps your Gump arse.

But they didn't kick they didn't kick the extra point on no teams resume was comparable to AUs that year.

Which is why more publications and computers awarded the national championship to AU than any other team in 1983.

Doesn't bother me. Bama fans hate Miami too. But your argument is weak brah. Texas beat you guys head to head.

Funny a 12 point win over Bama in JH last year is somehow a buttwhipping. But a 13 point loss to Texas isn't.

And yet you don't have the trophy, and Miami does.

Cry some more about it, it's funny.

Well, it comes down to whether you think a national championship is based on merit.

If you do, AU was the 83 national champ. If you think it should be based on something other than merit, well, that's your opinion and you are entitled to it.

Team A had a 1 point loss in their Bowl opponent's home stadium

Team B. Beat Team C and had a 1 pt loss to their Bowl opponent on a neutral site

Team C. Lost to Team B by double digit and also smells like a cow's arse.

Objectively which team would you think was the best?

Hint: not the cow arse smelling one.

According to your non-inclusive list. CF data warehouse used to have a more complete list which had about 18 selectors for AU.

Anyway, you have already posted many times in the past you think AU deserved to win the 1983 NC so being bored and wanting to argue or whatever is fine. Carry on.

Team A beat a half dozen top ten teams and 8 bowl teams back when it was hard to make a bowl.

Team B beat 1 top ten team and 2 bowl teams.

Team A and B finished with the exact same record.

Team A is the champ.

And your beloved CFDW still didn't recognize 1983 for Auburn.
