Anyone else hate Tigerboard?

The format blows but it has been around so long that it is the only free board our fanbase uses.
I wish someone would create a new Mizzou board that is setup similar to Vol Nation or (gasp) Hogville (without the retards).
Yeah yeah this is a stupid thing to complain about, but I really hate Tigerboard.

On mobile, it's absolutely unusable. As I'm on my mobile more than anything, I'm not on TB much.

I cannot stand it. Does anyone know if powermizzou is worth paying for? The thought of paying for forum access is unappealing to me.

If you like recruiting info then it is worth it. I agree it is weird to pay to use a message board, but I like hearing the random recruiting rumors.
Looks like 247 is trying to start their own Mizzou site.
I just wish Mizzou had a better free board. Tigerboard looks like it is from the 80's.

Tigerboard is beloved by its long-time users. But anyone new tends to have issues with the format. I never warmed up to it myself.
The eventual goal of the SEC rant and its team boards is to become a one-stop shop for information about all the SEC teams. And to provide a great format for fans of individual teams to interact with each other and fans of other teams on the rant.
So, tell us how we can make this board better. What things can we do, or what features can we offer, to make it attractive? I think we have some great pieces in place already. We have some people with good inside knowledge, media presence, etc. We're trying some features like previews, and power rankings on the rant. What else would y'all like to see?

I tried to follow TB for about a week. I just can not get past the format. I prefer the rant much more.

Semo,
The rant is still new to MU fans as a whole. There was never a need to be here until we joined the SEC. TB has a huge advantage since it is the first real site for a free message board for MU. All the MU board on the rant needs is time and to get the word out. I know I tell my friends and some lurk and one or two post.

This board is great. More traffic is all it needs. That and a feature that lets you jump to the last read message of any thread.

Agreed. Thanks to all of you who tell your friends! I'd love to see traffic increase. It's definitely gotten busier during the football season, hope to see it get even more so.
And just so I understand - you'd like a feature that takes you to the last message you read in any given thread?

The biggest problem with tigerboard, ironically, is that its format doesn't lend itself to having any kind of decent or meaningful discussion about sports. Its a place for one liners where everyone strives to be a comedian or a troll.
Nick is being held in place by a very long time vocal minority that resit any form of change of format. The problem is while he appeases that long term minority he is alienating potential new posters who are turned off by the late 90's forum tech and the content of clowns comedians and trolls.
I enjoy the clowning around but if it cant be had in moderation mixed in with legitimate discourse about the athletics it will fade away, which it is currently. That is a shame because Tigerboard is/was an institution on the internet for Mizzou athletics.

Nick is being held up by the fact that you have to load the ads on each page every time you read a post.
The format sucks for sports discussion, but it's great for ad views and accidental clicks. The Shack is fun too.

The format is perfect for the shack, no question.

I actually purchased a host and a sitename to make a better version of TigerBoard....havent gotten around to it yet, but hopefully in the next few months I can get it going. It would be similar to volnation and here

I thought about doing that at one point. Then I realized that most everyone would end up banned for being shitty posters.
Posted on 11/5/13 at 5:55 pm to ZouKeeper314
Almost 6 year user of TB. I quit posting there. Format's atrocious, overwhelmingly shitty user base. Everyone there is just constantly sniping at one another. And the politics board actually directly gave me cancer. I didn't have cancer before, clicked the politics board, boom, stage 3 brain cancer

So, no sniping and no discussing politics on this board. We can work on accommodating that, I believe.
What would attract more people to post here? Other than the team's performance, which sadly is out of our control. The coaches don't ask for our opinions, for some reason.

Whoa now. Slow down. You can't ban all sniping. if I or someone else says something dumb it should be allowed. It should be a self policing board for the most part. It won't be any fun if we are all holding hands and nodding in agreement. Sometimes brothers and sisters fight.

Would any of you be interested in a "tigerboard" with a more friendly format and slightly more moderation?
