Texas takes a Pac12 AD?
Texas and Oklahoma to the Pac12.
Saban to Oklahoma.
Texas and Oklahoma to the Pac12.
Saban to Oklahoma.

Texas Takes First Step To Woo Saban
They are doing a poor job of it so far, having to settle for their 2nd (or 3rd) choice for AD.

That move would benefit A&M on two fronts. There is no way that Nick Saban is going to be successful at t-sip u as he is at Alabama. That job has lost a lot of luster, for several reasons.
1. The Big Twatever is horrible, with very little national exposure
2. Big Brother is in a better conference, and will continue to marginalize the sips.
3. The Big Twatever is no longer a two horse race with Oklahoma, who has now been nearly shut out on top-tier Texas talent with A&M's move to the SEC. So the likes of Baylor, OSU, and Tech are just as competitive as OU.
4. That also means that the Red River Rivalry is practically worthless on a national scale, and that's the biggest game the longhorns have.
If a well established coach like Nick Saban is dumb enough to take that job (which he's not), that theoretically makes Alabama less competition for the SECW and makes the longhorns continually less competition for A&M on the recruiting trail.
The only way Nick Saban can be successful at t.u. is if the sips move to the B1G or Pac12...maybe. That move is 10 years away at least (if at all).

I thought they were hiring the WVU guy to specifically woo Saban. This dude is an NFL guy with no connection to Saban. WTF is wrong with them.

I read in a thread on a sip board that this new ASU AD and Saban were hunting buddies. Really? First off I bet Saban doesn't know the guy from Adam's house cat. And more importantly, since when does Saban have time to facilitate a hunting hobby? Those folks are about as delusional as it gets.

Who were the first and second choices?

I read that too.
"Big hunting buddies"?
Saban doesn't fricking hunt.
And they say Patterson is close to Saban because "he may have at some time come into contact with Jimmy Sexton when he was working for an NBA franchise".
That's it? He may have met Jimmy Sexton = close ties to Nick Saban.
