Alabama draws far more applicants, I'm guessing. I've seen a number of kids get rejected/wait listed at Auburn and go to Alabama. That is anecdotal, and perhaps changing, but at least until recently I'm pretty certain it is true.

It is true. Bama has lower standards so a lot more unqualified people try to get into it. Some make it, most are so unqualified they do not however. Been that way for a decade since bama started lowering admission standards to try to attract more students.
