Do you think Dylan Thompson will be a strength or a liability for this team next year? After watching the Mizzou game, I can't say that I think he is ready. As much as I like the kid, Jesus isn't gonna just give him a better throwing motion.
EDIT: For comparison, look at some of the throws that kid for Mizzou was making, who is a RS Freshman.

Liability. I fully expect Nosovitch to earn the starting job in spring or fall camp

His motion on the INT was horrible, he skip kicked.... I think that's just arm strength. Mitch already had it coming in as a Freshman. Nosovitch is a gamer like Connor, and he can scramble.
Next year there will be a rotation, and we'll no more after the uga game.

He's bigger than Connor, but only by an inch and 10 lbs, but he's just about as fast.
Also, he had a whole lot more passing yards out of HS and honestly his stats overall were better. He was a Parade All American, who beat many of Terrell Pryor's state records for PA.

Strength.
But that doesn't necessarily mean I think he's going to be the starter next year.

Yep. He can run the zone read so the offense can stay the same.
Thompson and Mitch can't really run the zone read so we'd have to go to more I-formation stuff, although it will be interesting going forward to see Nosovitch and Mitch battle and if Spurrier maybe wants to go back to some traditional stuff he ran at Florida more often

I think he will be a strength. Just not as the starting QB. He'll be in the same roll next year, solid off the bench in situations and the best insurance for our starter. I'm sure Spurrier would like to give him a shot, being a Senior, but he's not going to have the longest leash if he does get the nod to start the season.
But, that's a long way off. If he puts in the time during the off-season to improve his weaknesses, who knows what could happen.

If you watch the replays, Dylan did not do that poorly. I counted four dropped passes that should have been caught. We shot ourselves in the foot in other ways when he was in there as well - so our ineptitude early was not necessarily his fault imho.
With that in mind he also threw two deep balls down the sideline that were not catchable. Both times the receiver was open.
Dylan is going to be fine next season and he'll be an asset. Nosovitch is going to be a fine backup as well and he'll get his turn to start soon enough.
We're going to be a very dangerous team next year.

Even when watching the game I didn't think Dylan played horribly. His first two series was meh but after that we moved the ball down the field but then we shot ourselves in the foot.
That game reminded me of the ECU game in Charlotte a few years ago. Shaw started and really didn't play bad but the team rallied behind Garcia and we went on to win that game. Dylan will be fine next year.

Dylan is Smelley 2.0. He better be working on his signals because he'll be 3rd string next year. I appreciate his contributions to the program but after this season his time in the sun will have passed.

I like the guy and think he will be a asset if one thing is fixed, his willingness to chuck that sucker down the field whether or not the guy is open or not.
He is a gunslinger and with that mentality comes the big bombs down the field but also the interceptions. He did dominate the taters in their house and some insignificant school in the WB, but a few interceptions were dropped in both of those games as well.
If he settles down, learns a little patience, and take what the defense gives him he will be a great QB for us. If he continues to play like he is in his dorm playing playstation, he will be signaling to Nosovitch from the sidelines.

Seriously? 3rd string next year?
You're definitely ill-informed and out of the loop.
Senior QB Dylan Thompson will not be third string behind a RSSo and RSFr.
The word on Nosovitch is that he is going to be a good one, eventually. He'll get a lot more playing time next year behind Thompson.
Connor Mitch is still raw. He's got a big arm and he is a big kid but he is going to have to get some playing time under his belt before he is anywhere close to being ready to compete for more playing time.

I would be shocked if Dylan didn't start the season. I would also be shocked if Dylan wasn't at least 2nd string the last game of the season (meaning he could start the whole season, or I don't see him losing more than 1 spot on the depth chart if he's healthy the whole season.)

I didnt think dylan was that bad Saturday. That int was pretty bad but i thought he played ok. I think he definitely starts next year as the starter.
And i absolutely dissagree with the smelley 2.0.

strength. one of the greatest team first guys we've ever had at Carolina.

This.
That said, I'm with some of the others who will be surprised if he's still the starter at the end of the year. Thompson's throwing motion bugs the crap outta me. He releases the ball back around the earhole of his helmet, and it causes his passes to not have much zip on them. They kinda sail a little bit. I think that's why he is better at the long-ball passing game; he lets Byrd run under them. His intermediate passing game suffers a little bit because of it.
