Kentucky #2 Dumbest Fan Base in America

I was really hoping we would be #1. I am assuming Bama will win this one. Usually these are pretty funny but this one missed the mark. It was more rehash and cliche. Had high hopes because to be honest there are tons of things to rib UK fans about.

Clay Travis is a Vol homer who hates UK. He hates Bama more so it is no surprise we were #2 and it will be no surprise Bama will be #1. The fact Ohio State was not #1 tells me just how green his eyes are for UK and Bama because even his wife is a Michigan alum and he still did not put the Buckeyes #1. That is real envy by Clay.

Linking to that fool is just giving him internet hits and making him more money. Better to link to a Bama or UK site and give them the dough.

Some quotes that show how dumb and blind Clay is....

quote:

You know who is from Frankfort?
Johnny F'ing Depp
.

Depp is from Western KY and Owensboro is not Frankfort
Depp's mom has a place between LEX and VER and it is pretty sweet

It was George Clooney who was born in LEX at CBH

he is trolling hard but his envy overpowers him to such an extent it is actually funny.

quote:

Kentucky basketball fans are the dumbest basketball fans in the country and there isn't a close second.

Intelligent Kentucky basketball fans -- and there are at least a handful -- solemnly acknowledge this fact.

Actually they are probably the smartest when it comes to basketball. Duke fans are the dumbest because they are yankee kids at a southern school who never learn the game and just want to be buffoons on TV.

I would actually agree with you on the fans being intelligent. I posted it because it is relevant. I also think it is the worst written article of the series. As far as being a homer he also wrote one for Tennessee. The Kentucky one is full of cliches but is still good for a laugh. I happen to find much of the site rather humorous.

- On some occasions it would help the majority of fans to lighten up.

Clay Travis

Look, I can find Clay entertaining but his rants about UK are just boring and routine. His earlier work at least was fresh and funny but he has recycled the UK and Bama stuff so long he is now dated and stale. And while he did write one for the Vols, he put them at #10 so his troll was not so obvious. I do agree it was very poorly written and full of factual and grammatical errors that he has since edited after others pointed them out.

I am not faulting you for posting, just that by linking you are feeding right to him. I am often tired of the same old stereotypes for SEC schools that are written because they sell more than they are true. Sadly, it reinforces these stereotypes when folks from the SEC travel outside the SEC and have to deal with idiots who think they are true.

On that note I have certain people at work who check to see if I'm wearing shoes, invite me over to break their horses, and inquire about the location of my moonshine still. All in good fun.

Agreed, as long as it is all in good fun. I am always amazed when I was younger and on the east coast where they would openly ridicule the south, not knowing I was from there. Then after they found out they would try and backtrack. They were taken aback because I had a very flat accent that gave no indication of my roots.

Living amongst Indiana and Louisville fans, I'd take our dumbest fan over their middle of the pack anyday.

He also does this for another reason. He knows Kentucky and Bama fans both have huge following, so this will lead to a lot of page views for him.

Some people take what he writes way too seriously just by reading his twitter retweeets once he releases a different team on this list.

I agree with everything that has been said here, but I see all of it as pure entertainment. I love poking fun at the different schools even my own. The average fan gets it. Its those few who see red when their team gets mentioned that need to chill.

He's a pretty well known media troll that's for sure.

When he sticks to just talking about sports Travis is decent but when he trolls like this with his blog he just looks like some bleacher report idiot.

Granted, I'm not a huge basketball fan, but I've discovered that most UK fans I've talked to who are huge UK fans are pretty knowledgeable.

If I was a Vol fan, I'd be bitter, too. To the south of me is the best college football program and to the north is the best college basketball program; and they root for each other against UT. Yep, being bitter is not an option for Vols.
