A question regarding possible AU upset(?) of A&M:

For those who have kicked the koolaid habit:
Would AU winning really be that surprising? Ole Miss had a solid chance of beating A&M had they continued running. AU has the 7th ranked rushing attack, which would limit opportunities for JFF. Considering A&M's D is ranked 113 (out of 123 teams) there's no reason to think AU won't be successful in this. The Aggies do have the home field but ball control can take the crowd out. I'm expecting a close game myself and AU winning wouldn't be very surprising to me.

Yes it would be surprising. A&M is a 2 TD favorite or about that. They have a clear cut better offense. Now defensively A&M is just plain bad. That alone keeps just about any team in the game unless A&M puts up 50+. Being in the game and stopping JFF from beating you is 2 very different things.

No doubt. My point though, is that ball control, TOP, by AU limits JFF's chances...no?

Surprising yes, but not out of the question. Actually A&m held ole miss to 130 yds rushing, so that was an improvement.

Last thread that said this was 7 pages I think. It had a more baited title though.

It would be an upset but not a shock

Only way to truly limit JFF if get turnovers. If Auburn slows it down A&M can score on 5/6 possessions instead of 8/10.

Sumlin has made it clear he doesn't give an F about TOP. He can move the ball at will and score quick then he will. Who cares if an 80 yard drive takes 2-3min.

So what you're saying is it wouldn't be that much of a surprise.

As has been posted repeatedly on this board, everyone should expect Auburn to win. Not only is our defense terrible, but Manziel is likely to have real problems. Without Joeckel and Swope, and with all of the distractions of the offseason, his soph slump will almost certainly start tomorrow. Besides, Gus has a year of film on a Manziel now, and you know he's got something special planned.

Auburn by three TDs.

Not trying to be a jackass, but the same could be said for any opponent. And has been.
Auburn is a much-improved team. Should be a great game.

Ole Miss is ranked 61st in rushing. quite a bit of difference between Auburn and Ole Miss. Auburn's inside running game is far superior to Ole Miss and AU's outside rushing is as good or better.

Yeah But A&M has to respect OM's pass game. Not nearly as much vs AU.

No reason to go all meltdown mode. No way we win by 3 TD's. More like 10.

Well, yes and no. Put it this way...JFF getting 14 different series is a far different thing than AU getting 14 different series. I would think JFF scores a whole lot more.
