And probably the most important game in Dan Mullen's five seasons as head coach. Believe it or not, but a win or loss completely makes or breaks the season. Lose and I'm not sure we win another game, win, and we are still in the hunt for a bowl.
And I think we need to win big as well...this a is a young team, and a young team that needs confidence. Winning by 3 over a dog shite UK team won't be much of a boost. Win by 20+ and this team will think it can win against it's other realistic opponents. Bottom line is that this game is the difference between 6-7 wins and a month of extra practice for a young team...or possibly Mullen's Nutt esque 4-8 season before the dam broke. There have been some big games over the last five years...UGA & Florida 2010, AU 2011, etc. but not one that's meant as much as it does for our coach, IMO.

Brady Ackerman said on SEC tonight that he believes we will beat a major opponent out of who's left. I assume he meant Bama, aTm, or SC. Add a win over OM and IMO, that would also save the moffan man even with a losing record. I just wish I knew what kind of guy Stricklin is fo realz. Does he have the balls to can muffin if goes Nutts? Will the boosters be fed up enough to push for a change?

Do you guys actually think we can hire someone better than Mullen?
Next year is our year we switch out OK state, Bowling Green, and South Carolina for USM, South Alabama, and Vandy

yes, he'll be playing tomorrow night on ESPN2. we need to pit a native son of MS to do battle with Freeze. it's the only way.

We are in a presumably better state than when we hired Muff so I don't see why we couldn't.

line is currently at state -10.5
If we don't win another game this year I still don't think we fire muffin.

You could make a case that we should fire Mullen because we are having a discussion about if we can beat Kentucky in year 5.

Losing the Egg Bowl will raise the heat on Muffin a little, but not enough to get him fired. Ole Miss may not be able to field a defense by then though.

All I have to do is go back to the UK game in 2008 to see what Mullen has done for us. Should have clobbered those guys then. Lost the game. Stands weren't full. Fans were apathetic.
We are demanding more because Mullen has taught us to expect more. Whatever happens in the rest of his tenure, he was a helluva hire.

Yeah, I agree...when the next hire comes around we will be in much better shape (assuming Stricklin doesn't completely screw things up). Stadium expansion, bowl eligible talent, ticket sales are way up. So for that I am thankful. I just think Mullen has enough flaws to where I would not mind going in another direction .

Yep, he can lose out and won't have a worry in the world. Next year, he wins 8-9 games and either uses that to open up a new job or uses that to give him at least 2 more years in Starkville.
I don't see him leaving/being forced to leave any time soon.

The Black Daggers jumping in was nice.. The rest of that game was tears.
