THE GAME: The University of Alabama football team returns home for a stretch of three straight Southeastern Conference games beginning with the Arkansas Razorbacks this Saturday. The game marks the start of the second half of the 2013 season as the Crimson Tide and Razorbacks square off on ESPN with kickoff set for 6 p.m. CDT. Brad Nessler will serve as the play-by-play announcer, with Todd Blackledge at his side as the color analyst.

SERIES HISTORY: Alabama leads the all-time series with Arkansas 16-7, and has won six straight in the series after a 52-0 win in Fayetteville last season. The Tide has also won four straight in Tuscaloosa by an average margin of 34.5-18 while the average margin of victory during the current six-game streak is 39.8-15.5. Alabama and Arkansas first met on January 1, 1962, as the Tide defeated the Razorbacks 10-3 in the Sugar Bowl en route to Alabama’s sixth national championship.

HARD TO CONVERT: No team in the SEC has allowed fewer first downs (84) than Alabama, which ranks fourth overall in the nation.

QUARTERBACK WINS: AJ McCarron has 31 career wins and a .939 winning percentage at Alabama. He is currently the all-time leader in winning percentage at The University of Alabama and the Southeastern Conference.

SEC’s Winningest Quarterbacks (Percentage)
Quarterback Percentage (record)

1. AJ McCARRON, ALABAMA .939 (31-2)
2. Jay Barker, Alabama .934 (35-2-1)
3. Danny Wuerffel, Florida .903 (32-3-1)
4. Buck Belue, Georgia .900 (27-3)

STREAKING: Alabama enters the Arkansas contest with the second- longest winning streak in the Football Bowl Subdivision at 10 games. Ohio State currently has the longest streak at 18 games while Baylor is third at nine games.

ALABAMA HAS MOST WINS SINCE 2008: Dating back to the start of the 2008 season, Alabama has won 67 games, which is the most in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Boise St is 2nd with 65 wins and Oregon is 3rd, with 62 wins.

ALABAMA AGAINST THE UNDEFEATED: Alabama has had 17 games since 2009 against undefeated AP ranked teams and has handed that opponent the first loss of the season in 15 of those matchups

BEATING THE BEST: Alabama is 25-7 against the Associated Press top 25, including a 15-4 mark against AP top-10 teams over the past six seasons. The Crimson Tide is 2-0 thus far this year, beating No. 6 Texas A&M, 49-42, in College Station and then blanking No. 21 Ole Miss, 25-0, in Tuscaloosa

Alabama is allowing 87.2 yards per game in six contests this season and ranks seventh nationally and second in the SEC.

TOUGH SLEDDING ON THE GROUND: Alabama leads the nation in giving up the fewest rushing touchdowns since the start of the 2005 season, surrendering only 62. Since head coach Nick Saban arrived in 2007, the Crimson Tide has allowed 44 rushing touchdowns. Ohio State is No. 2 in that category, giving up 60. Alabama has surrendered two rushing touchdowns thus far in 2013.

The Tide’s last loss to the Razorbacks was in double overtime on September 23, 2006, by a score of 24-23 in Fayetteville. Arkansas’ last win in Tuscaloosa was a 34-31 win in 2003 in double overtime.

Head coach Bret Bielema is coaching his 100th game as a head coach this week. He is 71-28 (.717) through the first 99 games of his career.

Arkansas’ remaining schedule is the 4th-toughest in the NCAA as the Razorbacks’ five remaining opponents have a .714 winning percentage this season

Arkansas plays at Florida, Alabama and LSU during the 2013 season, marking the third time in school history the Razorbacks will face each team on the road in a single season. Since 1992, Arkansas is the only school to play at Florida, at Alabama and at LSU in the same season multiple times, with four other schools having trips to Gainesville, Tuscaloosa and Baton Rouge on their schedule once

Arkansas has allowed eight rushing touchdowns this season, the fewest in the SEC among teams that have played seven games and the 3rd-lowest total in the NCAA among teams with seven games already this season

The Razorbacks’ +15 sack differential is the highest in the SEC and tied for 4th-highest differential in the NCAA

He seemed to be in a good mood at the press conference. Smiled a lot, laughed a couple of times. I think he's glad to be playing "grown man" football this weekend for a change.

Makes sense when you remember that Saban was going to burn McCarron's redshirt if McElroy had gone down against Texas.
