Check in here and show yourselves. I know there are a few of you out there that still think Bobo sucks. I'd honestly like to hear what you have to say. The guy has been calling nearly perfect games thus far. The South Carolina game was about as flawless as I've seen from a play calling standpoint. The LSU game was also impressive. He's at the top of his game and is definitely one of the best in the conference at the moment.

We talked about this in a thread yesterday, I think. Most of us are starting to come around on him...I think the majority of us just wait to see that one series each game when it would be simple to just do whats working, and he decides to go full retard. As long as it doesn't cost us the game, I wont bitch too loud but it does always seem to happen when we have a chance to step on the gas a bit and put someone away.

Can you provide examples? I'm sure there's some from Clemson I'm just not thinking of because I was heavily inebriated that game.

The last one I remember was 1st and goal at the 5 and we ran up the middle three times in a row. I have usually defended him, fwiw.

As long as we don't revert to calling a draw on 3&5 or farther 70% of the time he is cool with me. I never really thought he was a complete moron, just found his play calling choices to be a little strange at times.

Saturday it was the series where we took the deep shot from inside our own 10 in a tie game. I don't remember the exact rest of the series but, was either an incompletion or a screen that went for notadamthing on 2nd down and then 3rd, we were left with no choice but to try and throw for the first down (granted, this was the play that our receiver got molested on right before the muffed punt, I believe). It was the call on 1st down that forced the rest of that series. 1st down on your own 8 in a tie/close game, I just don't understand trying to get 50 on one play.

To be fair, the receiver should have caught that ball

Exactly, if he does catch it , the call is brilliant.
The 3 runs up the middle against Clemson , I have no issue with ; except we have 2 of the best backs in the country and an experienced line and can't get in from 1st and goal on 3 try's? Not bad call , bad execution.

Yes, he should have. Doesn't change the fact that it was a questionable time to call that play.
I was bitching about the call while the ball was in the air. While I would have been happy if he had caught it, I still would have thought it was a risky call.
We got bailed out with the muffed punt, so it worked out.

If that is your opinion, then I guess not, but I liked the call.

quote:I like that cal personally. When the other team is starting to crowd the box because they are 95% sure you're going to run hit them with a deep pass. At least from here on out teams will have to respect the fact that we might go deep and will have to loosen the box some or be aware that we're going to try to beat you deep.

Lets wait and grade him on an entire season. He deserves blame for not training AM about how to manage the clock with no timeouts. Blew the SECCG.
REMEMBER how Bobo blew it at UT in 2009. One of the worst called game plans I have ever seen.
He has the fastest car on the track right now. He should be out front. Great OCs earn their reputations when they win with less. Bobo has yet to do that.
The guy is just not very smart. His tard will surface. I am terrified it will this week.

Bout time the rest of yall hopped on board, I've been lonely here for a while
But seriously I've definitely had issues with his playcalling in the past, mainly just in 2009 and 2010 though really. I thought he was fine before that and has been stellar ever since.
There may be one or two times a game where I think "man, why would you call that?" but if I'm only thinking that once or twice while playing in this league against the teams we've played against...I'll take that all day. Overall he has been brilliant this year.

So what's your grade for em in '12? When he set
all time records for points and yards?
Good God, Your actually putting the blame on him for
the SECCG after OUR DEFENSE gave up 350 yrds
rushing?

While that was a terrible game, let's spare some blame for the defense. 07 and 09 our defense was absolutely and completely clueless. it's like they took 11 guys off the street and said "hey, stop that offense over there".

FWIW, I think that the majority of the beef people have with him stems from poor execution rather than poor play calling. I myself have cursed Bobo up one side and down the other only to realize he can't run the play, only call it. Not saying he isn't absolved from any blame but I think that we put too much of the fault on him and not on the players lack of execution. Just my $.02.
