almost our entire roster is from TX or LA. We may not have more than 1 guy from any other state - off top of my head non-jucos we have 1 GA, 1 HI and 1 CA, all in 2013 class. That may be it.

I'm not sure we've ever really recruited much elsewhere. A guy here or there from CA or OK really. Next year we're adding at least one guy from AZ so we're really going crazy

Yep mostly TX and LA but with the conference change and our early success I am hopeful we can get more from other states

Sumlin has definitely emphasized more national recruiting than Sherman did. We have had rosters at times that had less than half a dozen players from OOS. When we came to the SEC there was some folks that got anxious that we didn't spend much on recruiting but a lot of that is just logistics. Our coaches can drive to Houston or Dallas (or take a cheap flight if need be) and hit half a dozen prospects in a day. I remember some of our assistants talking about how much they loved it because their amount of time flying across the country to see one kid play was so much less and they got to spend more nights at home with their families.

I remember RC at one point said he would only recruit Texas and LA and really only looked at kids outside of there if they expressed interest in A&M. Now the mentality is more about getting at least half the class from Texas, getting a few from LA, and then cherry picking a few from around the country. That's a much better system of recruiting.
