Feeling really dumb about how I reacted to Bjork's new NEZ

After him explaining on a couple radio shows and his studio 18 show, it makes a lot more sense, in fact, I like his idea better. The only thing I do not like about the announcement was the lack of information and visual concepts of VHS expansion.
Bjork's reasoning for forming a new plan for our NEZ was to not tear down buildings and a video board that we currently use and to build suites in an area where the infrastructure is already in place (elevators, concessions, etc). We will...
1. Add suites to the press box and stretch it from the end zone to end zone instead of just 20 to 20. That means we will at the same time or eventually do the same to the East side suites.
Or
2.We will add suites to the corners of the SEZ and connecting the SEZ to the East and West suites. I loved Pete's NEZ design but I've always thought that stretching our East and West sides from end zone to end zone is a smarter first move because you add the revenue you need with premium seating while we build up our fan-base to fill a 65k seat stadium and then once we do that, implement Pete's design in the NEZ for 70K+. This is the smartest move and I should have known better than to doubt Ross the Bjoss.

Modes this allow for further expansion where we can get up to a ton of more seats
Does

I'm very confident that the Bjoss has us pointed in the right direction in every way when it comes to all things football but with that said, VH desperately needs uniformity IMO.
At the moment, we have four completely different looking sections of the stadium and none of them really compliment each other. I know the renderings are just renderings and think it's a definite improvement but the new design doesn't help with the uniformity problem either.
We should be working towards a finished product that reflects the beauty of our campus and I think adding some symmetry would do that (think BDS, jordan-hare, kentucky, michigan, ND, etc.).
Extending the suites and such first sounds like the right idea and I'm sure Bjork is way ahead of me when it comes to symmetry. So as long as the general idea involves symmetry (mainly the NEZ mirroring the SEZ), I'm a happy man regardless of how we get there.
Also, I fricking hate the East side suites. They look like something from Star Trek

I personally do not care about symmetry.
I know some do :pagingOleColonel27:
But that's just opinion. I fully trust in whatever Bjork decides upon.

The lack of symmetry is the main reason our stadium is considered one of the worst in the conference.

The Swamp is very un-uniformed, so is LSU's stadium. I just want to keep options open for the future. My biggest issue is the amoutn of people traffic that will happen on game day when the basketball arena is so close to the West side of the stadium. If 40 years from now, we needed an upper deck, that stupid arena will be in the way.

Not near to the extent of ours though.

The Swamp may not have total uniformity with different looking endzones but it's actually perfectly symmetrical depending how you look at it. If you cut it in half from goalpost to goalpost and ignore the press box it would be.
I agree with you though, the Swamp is isn't completely uniform and has different endzones so that was a bad example. Still, even a little symmetry helps appearance however you cut it.
VH has zero symmetry with 3 totally different press box/suite areas and those gotdamn bleachers

To each his own.
To me it's one of the worst in the conference because we have shitty highschool bleachers in a non bowled in endzone. But symmetry to me isn't a big deal.
But I accept your want for symmetry I know many people and most likely the majority care about it

Get it making more money, then get it pretty. I can't disagree with that strategy.

I don't what Bjoss says ^^this^^ would have looked a hell a lot better than what we are doing now. The reason IMO we are no longer doing it, is because we don't have the money to do so.

I have to agree with mcreb.. I like this design a whole hell of a lot more than the brick one.. However getting everything to semi look the same would be a great improvement all the way around.. I can't stand how shitty the east and west sides look but since I'm to broke to donate I can't bitch to much about it and kind of gotta go with it

You arent looking at it from a long term view. No one disagrees pete's design looks better than Ross', but neither are the future finished expansion of VHS.
When Ross got here he said he liked the NEZ design that was in place and also was looking at ways to stretch both East and West suites while creating a more uniform look on all four sides. So this is a two phase expansion to complete VHS.
One phase is stretching the East and West suites to add more suites, trap noise better, and give our stadium a more uniform look while giving the NEZ a low bowl. The other phase is to complete the bowl in the NEZ and mimic the SEZ suites in the NEZ.
All Ross has done is implement the phases in a different order, a smarter order. It is better to go from 60k to 65K and then to 70K than to go straight from 60k to 70K. Going with Ross' plan gives us the same revenue as Pete's because we will add just as many suites, but does it cheaper and gives us more time to build up our fanbase instead of having a bunch of empty seats for a couple years.

No I get it and understand, but what I am disappointed in ... is the fact that they sold us on the picture I provided above and a new stand alone basketball stadium.
They are now doing both things different after donations were gifted and I don't feel that's right. They should have formed a solid plan from square one then gone with it.
I for one know some major donors that are not very happy with how this went down and feel that they were fooled into gifting the money they did. They would have been happier to know ahead of time what they were actually donating for instead of being mislead.
