I find it more shaming that A&M has a QB that routinely puts out half a thousand yards every game regardless of competition and A&M still can't go anywhere because their football program is still and always will be 2nd tier. Manning and his boys have done a ton for football in general.

In college? 'Cause I thought all three of them had pretty pedestrian college careers -- at least using the Alabama/LSU metric of SEC titles and MNCs...

College-wise:
Mannings
1 SEC title (1997)
0 MNC
0 Heismans
1 SEC rushing TD record (1969) (*14)
2 SEC total yardage record (1997, 2003) (*3789, 3582)
1 SEC total TD record (2003) (*32)

Manziel
0 SEC title
0 MNC
1 Heisman
1 SEC rushing TD record (2012) (*21)
1 NCAA/SEC total yardage record (2012) (*5116)
1 NCAA/SEC total TD record (2012) (*47)

Not to mention that you're comparing a 1968-70 Archie Manning with a 2012- Manziel. Granted they are both standouts in their respective eras -- but so were Lebron James and Bob Pettit.

Bob Pettit
Lebron James

Manziel is sitting on more total yards, TDs, and hardware in a season and 1/3 than Archie had in his entire career -- as well as a rushing average that is nearly 3X more. Wouldn't Manziel at least get the nod based on the level of competition? I mean, the 2013 installment of Sam Houston State would have beaten 1969 Alabama 140-0. It's the evolution of the game...

Stopped reading here. Peyton Manning finished his college career after the 1997 season. Eli was still in high school.

I know there's a lot of trolling going on in this thread, but some of the reactions from TAMU fans are really interesting. The op basically said there are some similarities between the way Archie Manning played and JFF plays. Apparently, some TAMU fans interpret that as blasphemy against JFF, who can't wait to leave College Station.

TAMU fans, how much of your opinion of Archie Manning is related to the fact that he wouldn't let JFF show up late at the Manning Passing Academy? I thought Archie handled that pretty tactfully. Will JFF smite you if you praise any other QB in history, or is his divine wrath solely directed toward people who make him face consequences for his spoiled brat behavior?

You can't be this stupid.

Peyton is top 5 in most every all time SEC passing category. He broke the SEC record for career wins by winning 39 of the 45 games he started.
