SHSU will seriously try their best to hurt JFF

It is absolutely time to start paying these players.

They pick the prime example of kids who don't need extra money to be the cover for an article about players needing money?

Lots of pathetic and overdone crap about JFF out there but this one is actually interesting, it's also not really about him so much as the point that players should be paid.

yeah, the spoiled rich kid is really the best guy to put on this cover. I feel bad for his tough life, I've never walked in his shoes.

Yes, the sight of these poor college athletes standing on campus starving, begging for change and a place to sleep must end

God I hope SHSU targets him

So...we should pay for these athlete's tuition?

I'm not gonna read their argument, but just let the kids own their own likeness. Let the NCAA remain the only entity that can legally sell jerseys and market players, but cut them a check. Title IX compliant, and the players contributing the most make their fair cut.

They do get paid.
only a handful each year deserve more than what they already recieve legally, and i'm sure those select few get more.

Kenny Bell should've made the cover

The "pay college" athletes people really need to stfu. It can't happen thanks to Title IX. Every school would have to give every kid on scholarship the same amount of money and that's what makes it impossible. There's no way to justify giving the 3rd string midfielder on the women's soccer team the same amount as Manziel. And while schools like A&M, Bama, LSU, ND, USCw, etc can afford it, most cannot. People really need to move the frick on.

Wow what a new and fresh exciting concept.
Ironic that the magazine is called "Time."

What about science majors in college? The college owns your findings and experiments because you're using the college's labs. Shouldn't the same apply both ways?
There are many many college students who would have been able to retire if their college didn't own their work.
How is football different?

If the Conferences break away from the NCAA they can. More than that though, I think the thing Johnny has shown (for right or wrong) is it can be solved to an extent by allowing the players to make money off their image and likeness. It will still be abused badly but at least it will prevent the schools from having to come up with the jack to pay the girls on the Equestrian team.

Because they can choose to do work off campus unrelated to their supervising professor's work and own all of it. Football players are demonized for it.

Last time the SEC had a coach or player on the Time cover (pretty badass pic):
