Mac Brown and Texas-Under Performer or scapegoat to bad seasons

I think he is an Under Performer. Texas is the most football crazed state I have ever visited with high school stadiums seating 10,00+. The talent he has and has access to is unbelievable, yet he always has trouble finishing in the top 5. For a team that has been so good for so long and only won one championship, that can be pretty disappointing. I feel like a coach who has proved himself by building a program could go further than a coach that was put in an already good program

Once UT gets out of the big 12 (maybe they can strike a deal with the Pac 12), then they will become a premier team again.

I think this as well. I think at some point they abandon the LHN and head West.

He's so bad, yet somehow his team came in and put 66 points up on Mississippi last year and 676 yards of offense. It is my fondest hope that Ole Miss atones this year at DKR.

Leave the Big 12?
They are the creators of the current Big 12-2 which provides them everything that they need, why leave?
Perhaps after Dodds and Mack leave.

Actually Mack did win that crystal , and played for it against Bama just a few years ago.

If Texas goes Pac 12 (which will be extremely complicated and difficult for them to do) it is actually a worse move.
Moving to the Pac they would likely be able to take 3 other schools with them but that means they will still be spread out like crazy and their Texas recruiting base will take a major hit. Currently no Pac teams are even in the Central Time Zone and most are in the Pacific, the amount of travel involved for their fans and players will be immense. It will magnify A&M's SEC advantage.
The best move for Texas is to get the Big 12 to merge with the ACC. That's really their only play that makes sense. If the Big 12 adds FSU, Clemson, GTech, NC State, VTech, and Pitt (all of which are schools that really aren't wanted by the SEC and only GTech is a consideration for the Big 1G) then it helps them immensely. Miami is another possibility and they may even be able to get an ACC type deal with Notre Dame. That's not happening though until UNC and UVA finally decide to give up on the ACC.
As for Mack himself, he has run his course and he has lost his luster. Texas needs new blood but they need it at a higher level even moreso with Dodds needing to go. They are still trying to live in the world of 5 years ago and it just doesn't exist anymore.

Let's hope that the litigation and subsequent drama of Baylor et al hanging on to bevo's leg, begging for mercy doesn't start for the next 13 years (grant of rights) and drags on for another 5 years.

With TWC picking up the LHN that part of conference realignment is done until the end of the GOR.

Him being in the pac12 gets him access to CA and TX recruits. Pretty beastly.

How so? If they take 3 teams with them (OU, OK St, and either Baylor or TT) then those teams will be in close proximity.
TAMU has to travel an extensive amount to play someone not named LSU or Arkansas in the SEC. The Miss schools is like the AZ schools would be to UT.

and you're worried about travel in the PAC? The pac schools have a lot more money than the ACC schools.
