Murray's lone defender on ESPN jumps off the Kool-ade wagon...
Against Top 10's
1-6
More picks than TD's
How do you defend that? I want to. I really do. But how do I defend that?

Tell him you didn't realize that there is only one player on the team...

Who do you have to defend it to, is Colin coming to your house later for a roundtable discussion?
The numbers are what they are, you can't change them. I would point out that our defense has let us down in some of these games ('11 SC, '10 AU for instance). All you can do is hope that Murray shows out in future games.

For some real fun figure out this equation, vs top 10 or top 20 teams:
Picks + fumbles - touchdowns
Picks + fumbles - touchdowns

How do fumbles/picks such as we saw Sat figure into it? If you are going to count all that, then those factors also need to be taken into account...as in, if the OL blows like it did and allows a guy to blindside, then the fumble can't be AM's fault - or maybe it is in your world...

QB's get blindsided all the time. Part of the game. But to suggest AM doesn't throw bad INT's and fumble a lot in big games would reflect an incorrect observation imo. I'm sure each pick and fumble had its own unique cause...but the sum total is what it is.

I take the Matt Stafford defense. Must not be the QB...

A better criticism would be that our Coaches can't win the big game...
Murray would be winning MNC's at Bama... No??

Herbstreitt was right when Murry has that look on his face during a big game he ends up losing.

HBTD, dead on. AM is plenty good. Our big game pant shatting started well before AM and will likely continue after he is gone. There is, however, one common denominator....

Call it like I see it. You feel good about the gameplan UGA trotted out vs Clemson? That was a summers worth of preparation too.
Posted on 9/4/13 at 8:34 am to WorkinDawg
Well, let's see. If the gameplan was so bad, then we wouldn't have lost by only three. But that would make to much sense for you. There are too many factors: would it have been any different if Gurley wouldn't have sat out the half? Or the penalty issue? To say the gameplan was bad is just stupid...

Question: your tackles can't hold the edge vs undersized but very fast DE's. you should:
a) go I formation (like our 75 yard TD) base with our freak fullback hammering said undersized DE's and LB's, setting up play action passes, negating the speed rush off the edge; or
b) run a slow developing sprint draw 48 times and when it predictably doesn't work throw on 3rd down.

Not even Joe fricking Montana could have done any better with this fricking oline

It is what it is at this point, and unless the OL improves or we start rolling him out more, it's likely not going to change this year either. Murray is pretty much money when he has time to see the field, and due to his height (6'1 is way, way, generous) it's tough for him to throw screens and slants with any confidence. And we see the result against teams with a pretty strong pass rush.
For all the

If he has to stay in the pocket and get rid of it quick, or if he's hit a few times, well......
How much better do you think you'd do if you were giving up 5 - 6" in height to the OL, and trying to throw over them with Clowney bearing down on you?

And there's the onion. He just doesn't have the physical tools to be a pure pocket passer in my humble opinion. He's a good kid with talent, but he just doesn't have that IT factor to overcome his weaknesses.

Worst thing Erin has going for him is that space in between his ears.
