Peterson looks great... When he's not trying to cover or tackle Julio Jones.

So what does that say about his college career? If he were like those two, then Les Miles should be fired for not managing him correctly.

Yeah, I find it strange to compare a DB to a RB. He's a great athlete, but not the type of athlete Jackson was IMO.

ETA: I still think Deion was the better corner, we'll see with Peterson in the future

Deion and Bo had a cult of personality surrounding them when they went into the NFL. Peterson is a good player, but the closer compliment would probably be Champ Bailey instead of the other two players mentioned.

PP7 had the unfortunate situation of being part of 2 rebuilding years.

If he can run routes so well... Then he would be playing WR.

Come again?

Julio's biggest plays against LSU occured when Peterson was off the field.

Damn cramps.

Well, perhaps THE biggest play(screen pass in '09). But Julio had quite a few good grabs against Peterson. Thats nothing against pp7, they are both magnificent athletes. PP7 was covering Julio when he had that interception against us in '09. Refs made a bad call.

Tyrann Mathieu made his NFL debut look a lot like all of those games he played for LSU before he was dismissed from the program.

He was exhilarating and impossible not to watch. The Honey Badger, just like we remembered him. In the Arizona Cardinals’ 17-0 preseason win over the Green Bay Packers, Mathieu brought it all back to mind:

— There was the jarring hit on a receiver that broke up a sure completion

— There were the special teams plays, two tackles on a kickoffs

— There was a sack

— There was a 24-yard punt return.

And you get the feeling he’s just getting started.

The third-round draft pick is playing all over the secondary in preseason camp, just as he did at LSU. He doesn’t have the physicality or honed skills of some of the better defensive backs in the NFL, but he is instinctive and fearless.
