Originally attended Alabama out of high school, but later transferred to another university. Despite that, I donate far more money to Alabama than my alma mater.

FYI, having a degree from the particular school you are a fan of makes you no better fan than someone else. If you think differently, then you are mothering more than a sad sad individual.

My Mom went to Samford and is still a huge Alabama fan, as much as me (at the time, possibly a better school than UA). It doesn't bother me at all and it really shouldn't to anyone else

I agree if we're just talking about sports teams, but when I think about LSU that's not the first thing that comes to mind. LSU is, and always will be, far more to me than a sports organization. It's highly doubtful to me that the university means as much to folks who didn't graduate. One just doesn't have the life experiences associated with such without attending/graduating.

That's an entirely different conversation than athletics, though. I'd be willing to bet way more holes are punched in walls after bad plays by people who didn't attend LSU, or any other university, than those who did.

This is bullshite. The vast majority of my energy and passion is in Auburn. My connection is strong on family, tradition, and nostalgia of growing up that way. But I'll always be missing a huge part compared to someone who attended there.

I have the misfortune of having that particular connection to GT

I have to agree with Auburn fan here. This is BS. At A&M and discounting bonfire for the young'uns: Silver Taps (extraordinarily respectful tribute to the dead), Midnight Yell Practice, etc., no offense but nobody who didn't attend A&M has a clue what A&M is about. And I'm not trumpeting A&M's virtues here - I'm sure other schools have rich traditions that sidewalk fans are absolutely clueless about. The same could be said of almost any school that isn't mostly day-students.
