Ellington, Byrd, and Clowney might miss game 1

According to Spurrier after practice tonight. Says if they don't heal quick and get back to practice they won't play. Sounds to me like he is just sending a message to some guys who don't feel like practicing and over playing their injuries.

I'm glad he is doing this. Bubba has been saying, mumbling really, behind the scenes, that he was about to run out of patience with Byrd and Ellington's hammies.
And Clowney has evidently been milking it - typical of a 20 year old kid I guess ... I mean, look at Mainzel.

I am also glad OBC is doing this, still kind of disappointing that they would not give full effort and play hurt so they don't have to practice.

Surprise, surprise! Clowney practiced today as did Damiere Byrd. Looks like Spurrier's motivational tactics worked.
Looks like what's been reported today, what got Spurrier so upset yesterday was that those three were given off days from practice, but instead of joining the team on the sidelines at the Proving Grounds, they stayed in the lockerrooms and "jived around". Today both Clowney and Byrd practiced, and Ellington still could not but was on the field with the WR group, in shorts and tee.
Sounds like they got the message, but that they needed to in the first place is pretty disappointing. Perhaps they got some bad signals from the training staff or someone, but certainly Lattimore wouldn't have done that. We still have a ways to go in replacing his leadership on the team....

Very much so but people in general with Lattimore's character work ethic and leadership don't show up often.

I read that Ellington's hammy was more severe than the other guys injuries. I totally agree with the coaches, unless a trainer says, "you aren't allowed to go out to the practice field at all," then those guys should have been out on the field with the team.

New generation with different view of work. Sad that Lattimore is more the exception than rule these days.

When all this came out I thought to myself that Ellington doesn't seem to be the type to just sit and not participate because he doesn't feel like it.

Not good enough....it's no hotter this fall than any other fall in Columbia. Coasting through the summertime heat is something that UGA players are more used to doing, as you very well know (not now)...

This summer is mild in comparison I was an industrial HVAC technician. I was on the roofs of industrial plants all last summer (even that day in June when it was like 109) I had to wear nomex shirts and pants everyday because of the jobs we would do. When doing some jobs we had to run oxy acetylene torches, it is no where close to the hottest it has been. Conditioned athletes can handle it no excuse not to be on the practice fields with the rest of the team.

Agree, he's a star at 2 D1 sports, that takes a great work ethic, I think he is probably hurt.
