Seriously? USC was great that year as was Georgia. Georgia had the longest winning streak in the BCS by the end of the year and don't give me the whole, "Georgia didn't win the conference" crap because as LSU fans should know, that's bull shite. LSU lost in November. This whole bitching about 2011 is ridiculous, you idiots act like you didn't have a chance to play for the NC. If Alabama didn't belong in that game, it wouldn't have been the most thorough arse whipping LSU has ever been handed.
Really? Georgia? They were good and were peaking but their resume didn't warrant an opportunity, conference champion or not. Their OOC schedule was not enough to show that they should have been there (win against very good VT > wins against very mediocre GT and OSU). LSU also beat SC and UT (albeit in the CCG), both teams that UGA lost to. Even with LSU losing to UK (who UGA beat), Georgia was a perfect fit for the Sugar that year but in no way deserved a NCG appearance.
As for the 2011, where am I bitching? I am simply stating a fact that another team had a reasonable argument for a place in the game. The BCS determined who played who and that is the way it goes but that still doesn't change facts that OSU had a much more legitimate argument in 2011 than UGA did in 2007.

I wasn't arguing that at all, USC had a better resume as well. I was just pointing out that by 2011 standards, UGA very well could've been in that game so saying there weren't any other teams that belonged in that game is a little wrong.
OSU's argument doesn't matter. The two best teams in 2011 were pretty clear and they got to play for it. I'm not a fan of the BCS but they got it right that year. I'm not going to go back and read what you posted so I very well may have misunderstood your post. LSU fans have complained about that game plenty and I saw your post as another one.

The argument for OSU certainly was reasonable, but so was the decision to leave them out of the title game. At the end of the day you had two teams with one loss. Team A lost to the #1 team in the country. Team B lost to an unranked team. Not a big stretch to say that team A is the one to advance.

What also has to be taken into consideration is that John Chavis altered the defensive scheme on final drive of LSU/ Bama last year. McCarron wasn't lights out that game. He checked it down to TJ Yeldon. Wouldn't of happened if the right defensive plan was made. If was a skiff.. Anybody can beat anybody on any given Saturday. Nobody knows which team of their's will show up.

This thread is still on the front page?
All that I have gotten out of this is that Alabama is better, will win every game forever, LSU is in DECLINE, and just deal with it.
Now, I know, and knowing is half the battle.

Do you have any actual thoughts on the game? A whole lot can happen between now and then.
Posted on 8/12/13 at 2:42 pm to AlaTiger
No kidding right. We think we will win because we think our team is better.
If you don't feel the same way about your own team, then I hope a bunch of drunk LSU fans show up on your doorstep, beat the crap out of you, and take your LSU fan club card.
Sack up Nancy.

I am always confident when LSU plays Alabama, not because I think that LSU will always win, but because I believe that LSU will always give best effort (sans 21-0).
My thoughts?
I think that LSU will be much better offensively and will move the ball. I think that LSU's fast, talented defense will be ready by that game. I think that Alabama will be a bit flat overall because they will not have been tested throughout the season and they will be overconfident at home. This is the year that Alabama loses 2 games, at least. The LSU game will be one of them and it will be of the 27-17 variety.
If LSU had had killer instinct on offense last year, they could have scored 24 points on Alabama in the second half alone last year. I think we see more of that.
Now, having said all of that, LSU could also completely implode by then and get run out of the stadium with Bama winning by 6 TDs. Really, who knows?

Why do you think they didn't give their best effort in the one game that would have given them a National Championship? Just curious.
And Bama fans feel like the team is better at QB, RB, WR, LT, RG, OLB, and S than Bama was at those same positions last year. That improvement is the result of either increased depth, returning a multi-year starter (so the position benefits from the experience and an additional yr in the program), or a combination of increased depth and returning starters.

I think a better question would have been "Why wouldn't Alabama fans think they'll beat LSU?"
I can't think of a single reason for us to think "yeah, we'll probably lose".
Now, we may lose, but we have no reason not to be confident.

No I didn't.
I completely understand their confidence. I am asking "why?"
I was looking for reasons beyond just saying it will happen. LSU gave Alabama all they could handle and Bama was very fortunate to win that game. Anyone who saw it and is honest would agree.
But, Bama fans act like they are head and shoulders superior to LSU when the two teams take the field. I am just wondering what they base that on? Sure, Alabama has the titles the past few years and have been better - I AGREE! But, I see no reason for an Alabama fan to just consider that game a W.
Unless LSU is just in complete DECLINE.
