Players need to be paid

this issue has been hashed out a lot and it appears there is a strong feeling for payment of some sort. in fact, the ncaa passed a resolution or rule or something a while back proposing a stripend. there are HUGE problems with this in many colleges; most which are barely hanging on with their football teams now and have to use state money to do so. remember, football is but one sport on campuses and they already pay for most of the others. you pay jff (who i understand comes from a wealthy family) and you gotta pay every athlete on campus. the real question is whether college sports are amateur or professional sports. it seems many want that distintion to evaporate. you can't have it both ways. maybe the nfl should just have a minor league system, like mlb. that would stop all of this so said "exploitation".

well said. College football is minor league NFL. Why would the NFL want to change? The college does all the hard work (training, development and coaching) and they do nothing.

It's easy to agree that college athletes should get paid. But what's not so easy is the "how to do it" part. If you pay JFF, you have to pay the second team girl's volly ball player the same amount. And the last place player on the girl's golf team. To keep it easy, let's say each school has 10 girls' sports, with 14 on each team, for a total of 140 female athletes ( the girls' track teams blows this out of the waters but keeping it easy). Add in another 140 male athelets in other sports. So you have a total of 280 athletes plus the 85 on football scholarships. The big boys in college sports can afford this, but with only a very few schools breaking even in sports funding, where does this new money come from? The NCAA is the obvious answer:but, again, be specific in the "how to do" part.LSU probably could, bama, UT, etc. But what about ULLL or the weenies? Other questions: Does JFF get paid more than the third team TE? Since they are getting paid now, do they continue to get a free education?
