If you read the interviews after the game, you'll find that ND ran a very simple defensive scheme. Alabama was smart enough to identify, and ND's coaches weren't smart enough to adjust it.

Exactly. See the quote from Jones I posted last page. I really don't think the talent/development was extremely different. Certainly not 28 points different, anyway. Saban's just the best in the biz and it was Kelly's first time on the big stage (that NCG experience also applies to the players, not just coaching staffs).
