I grew up in a family that's half Roman Catholic and half Southern Baptist (immediately family non-denominational). One of the things I've learned growing up in that situation is that often religious hypocrisy knows no bounds.

My grandmother who is hardcore baptist didn't like me reading Harry Potter when I was younger and when I told her I was thinking about attending Catholic mass and converting to catholicism, you would have thought I had shot somebody.
