Like Arklamissy, I grew up Baptist but switched to Presbyterian later on. Although they can be involved in politics, they tend to focus much less on it and the doctrine seems more Biblically sound.

I grew up Presbyterian. Seems identical to Methodist/Lutheran in practice.

Probably because the ministers, generally, are more educated in theology, which is the main attraction for me.

There are many similarities in approach among these three groups.

The Presbyterian and Methodist denominations are similar in their doctrines and focus on biblical accuracy, but the Presbyterians are more liberal in their social and political beliefs.

Me too, actually. The church I attend now, when I go, is Evangelical Presbyterian. You would never know the denomination unless you asked. They examine biblical issues from theological, cultural, historical, political and educational perspectives. I learned more about the significance of Palm Sunday in one service than I learned in years from the Baptist church I went to as a kid/teenager.

And Govt Tide, I couldn't agree more with your comments about the political movement of the religious right. Instead of trying to legislate their beliefs and force them on others, which really turns people agains them, they should get back to their real purpose.
