Les Miles and LSU winning the NC in 2013 would be the most LSU thing since 2007. Everyone is projecting LSU to have a down year but typically this is when Les Miles is at his best
Really? Care to provide an example? I mean, I appreciate the optimism for LSU and all, but I just don't think this is true.
In 2007 we were preseason #2. In 2011 we were preseason #4. This just doesn't fit. When LSU is at its best, everybody knows we will be good.
The last time people were this down on LSU was heading into the 2009 season (after the abortion of a season that was 2008). Were we as bad as people thought? No. Did we even come close to winning the SEC, much less the NC? No, not even close.

What does this even mean?

It is pretty baffling, especially considering everyone expected LSU to win the SEC and face USC in the NCG that year.
I mean, some crazy stuff happened in 2007, no doubt, but to say that LSU came out of nowhere is just ignorant. We were preseason #2 and took over the #1 spot in early October.

You got one thing wrong (LSU was highly ranked in 07 and 11), though the point is valid. LSU does play better when expectations are low, we've always enjoyed being the underdog. This could be one of those years where we lose maybe only 2 games, though NC is a little too much to ask for. (but the LSU fan in me still believes)

There is little evidence for this. Aside from 2003 (which was not a Les Miles team), point me toward some evidence that LSU plays better when expected to lose.
The only possibility I see is 2009, and we were OK. We went 9-3 but came really close to being 6-6.

IDK but that post was almost completely wrong. In fact, the opposite of what he said about LSU is true.

LSU defiantly...
Like you said most people predict him to have a down year

I think you're thinking a little too hard
When I say most LSU thing ever I'm refering to winning games despite poor clock management (see Tennessee 2010 and Ole Miss 2009), the fake field goals, going for it on 4th down, the bar-fighting QB, ect, ect, ect
Basically, I think of LSU as the SEC's crazy uncle from Lou-weez-ziana who's a roaring good time until his pisses on the carpet

I say he's a moron because he doesn't recognize Alabama's 2011 and 2012 championships as "legit"...when they had one the biggest scandals in the history of CFB carrying their team in 2010. THIS ISN'T a jab to Auburn fans...it's just the truth.

Off-field issues =/= on field performance and also I'm entitled to my opinion.

Lol! Not really! Our young talent is easily better than your overall talent.
Uhh...you do realize that you are agreeing with him then, right? The question of the thread is what would be more SURPRISING? Not who's better out of LSU and USC next year. Smh

We lost that game, ftr.

All of which belies our coach's fundamentally conservative approach to the game of football.

South Carolina, because they've never done it and traditionally have never even been close.

This link captures the essence of LSU under Les Miles. Although the focus is on games versus Florida, it captures what I was attempting to say in the OP.
quote:
•2007: Maybe the moment Les Miles ascended to mature Hatdom. At home, LSU scored a TD on the fake field goal, goes 5/5 on fourth down conversions, rips back from a halftime deficit to beat Florida, and struts on from there to win the BCS title despite two insane overtime losses on the schedule. It's the total Les Miles experience in a single game, right down to LSU hearing USC had lost to Stanford (YAAAAAAYYYY) and then immediately giving up a 37 yard TD to Cornelius Ingram on the next play (AWWWW shite.)
