You missed the point. Guys like Pike, Frazier, Wallace were thought of as prime QB's by your fan base. Ely not so much, even by our coaching staff.

LOL. No Auburn fan had ever heard of him until he signed. He came out of no where and everybody was like WTF.

Who says we didn't want him? Just because you don't recruit a guy doesn't mean you wouldn't take him.

Zeke Pike was thought to be something special early on, but we didn't think very highly of him by the time he got to campus. Jonathan Wallace definitely wasn't thought of as a prime quarterback, and he was a backup plan. And Kiehl Frazier was, but he was just a huge bust.

And Gus Malzahn did want Cam Newton.
