Anyone ever heard this rumor before?
Ken Mattingly, who is an AU grad, apparently placed one on the Appolo 16 landing.

Supposedly all the flags placed upon the moon are now white because of exposure to the radiation from the sun. So. It may have been an Auburn flag there at first, but now its a white piece of cloth.

What I heard was that they forgot to put toilet tissue on the lander. They were in a bind.

That's the rumor. What we do know is that 10 Auburn flags went up on the Apollo 16. What we don't know is if any were left up there. Mattingly has always been super coy about it. Here's a NYTimes about it.
