Ross and Jones could help if they come in as good as advertised. Everyone else could use a redshirt. Wish Gray would've qualified. He probably would have played right away as well.

Sandberg would have won the Heisman this year.

If Shumpert is as good as advertised, play him too

We have 4 rbs. I'd redshirt Shump

Would you rather have a 5'9 185 JR backup safety (not elite talent) on coverage units or Shumpert?

For once I agree.

ETA: Also possibility of Holloway getting a few carries a game. Backfield even more crowded.

We'll see him at Safety or LB if he sucks at RB, but we brought him in to play RB. I believe UGA recruited him as a safety though.

ETA: We told Matthew Wells he would play RB too, so we'll see.

LSU had multiple season ending injuries at RB last year. We've had 1 the last 2 years. Unfortunately, RB is the most injury prone position b/c they take a beating. 4 RB's really isn't that many.

This year our LBs are deep and solid. Not sure if Shumpert moves to lb. ESP if we get Gerri green and Keith Holcomb.

We will have 5 people getting carries this year. 6 if you count Dak. It would be a waste if we didn't redshirt him.

When does Jones get on campus? 247 has him as not yet enrolled, when basically everyone else is but Cord, Gray, and Simpson(grayshirt).

I'm not sure if he's qualified yet. I knew he had a few things to do this summer to get eligible.

Per John Farley, he gets his class schedule today and starts class tomorrow. So I'm guessing we will see a release on Tuesday when he is officially a student

I say put shumpert at free saftey, but he has a tendency to get beat deep. He could make up for it in HS by running them down but he won't be doing that in SEC. I think you could put him a OLB cause he has great lateral movement and he just has a nose for the ball.

I think Shump is one of those freshmen (freshmens?) that you give every opportunity to fail before you decide to redshirt him. Learning the playbook might be an issue like it was with Robinson, but physically, he is ready.

I've always thought that Shumpert was a better fit defensively especially at OLB. His running never impressed me at IAHS.
