In your opinions, what does he need to do this year, for him to retain his job, or stay off a very hot seat?

Last year had some extenuating circumstances with some injuries. Provided the season plays out relatively injury free, how many wins, or what type of progress do yall expect to see for him to keep his job secure?

(ftr, I had predicted 7 wins for yall last yr)
Also, is Henry Josey expected to be back in full form this season?

I'm thinking a winning season, 7-6 or better, will keep him around another year. Last season set the bar a lot lower than it would have been otherwise. 7-6 winning all four OOC, two conference games, and a bowl should be okay. I'm guessing the seat will still be pretty warm, but won't be too bad.

I think Alden will keep him around as long as it's possible, and I'd support that as long as we're in bowl games and having winning seasons. Optimal would obviously be competing for division titles every year, but I don't know that will be a requirement until a couple .500ish seasons in a row.

Josey is should be back 100%. Hopefully the line can get him some holes.

Mizzou had some bad injury luck last year, especially on the OL. Without those, they win at least 2 more games. I expect them to be much improved this year. They could very easily start at 5-0 next year. If they get some momentum and Franklin gets confident, they could be the surprise team of the league this year.

Tough break with the West Schedule.

I'm seeing 6 wins tops, with a Big Maybe against Vanderbilt. Another Big Maybe to beat Ole Miss. Another Big Maybe to beat Tennessee.

Anything can happen though...

8 very winnable games, with UF, USCe, and TAMU at home. With Josy back, stay healthy, Franklin gets hot, ya never know. That's what makes CFB so fun.

Missouri will have a continuing theme of failure. Pinkel gets fired after this year. A new coach comes in for 3 years and fails. Rinse and repeat.

You have to make the decision before the bowl game. So you have to judge him at 7-5 or 6-6.

Personally I think it should be 8-4 for him to be safe, but Alden will be more lenient.

Yeah, I think 6-6 keeps him on, 7-6 after the bowl makes him okay.

I agree it should be more, but I'm not trying to fall into another blow Warren Powers out after a bad season and replace him with Widenhofer-type death spiral.

Josey is apparently back at 100%. Heard he could have been playing late last season, but wasn't worth burning a year. Be interesting to see how he runs in the SEC.

A bowl game will allow him to keep his job. But if it's only 6 wins it's going to be a lot of ppl calling for his head.

Ppl forget that we outplayed Vandy and FLA last year, even with the excessive injuries. And we beat TN.. I can see how ppl think we're a 6 win team, but if things go right we could be 8 with number 9 coming in a bowl.

Pinknel should NOT be in trouble at all. Moving to a new conference and having the injuries they had explains a lot of last year.

Since 2005:

2006 8-5
2007 12-2
2008 10-4
2009 8-5
2010 10-3
2011 8-5
2012 5-7

Look at the age of this year's starters:

Defense: 5 RS Sr.'s, 1 Sr., 5 RS Jr.'s

Offense: 3 RS Sr.'s, 3 Sr.'s, 3 RS Jr.'s, 1 RS So., 1 So.

Go away, diddy.

Pinkel's hot seat is partly due to off the field issues as well. He's had a tough couple of years personally, and made some poor decisions that, were he winning, probably wouldn't be as big a deal. But, it's the perception of some boosters that the off field stuff has distracted him. This is evident by his current contract, which only runs through 2017.

Yes, last year was a perfect storm of injuries. I think most teams would struggle if 70% of their OL (from the 2-deep) missed multiple games due to injuries. And we didn't have the depth of talent to absorb that. Assuming we can stay healthier this season, we should be more competitive. I think he needs 7 wins to keep his job. It could be 8, but I'd assume Alden would give him another year with 7 wins.

Bottom line, Pinkel has been at Mizzou for 13 years now. The program was in terrible shape when he came in, and he's built it into something respectable. Alden doesn't want to fire him - he'd prefer to see progress continue, and have Gary retire. But he also knows how much is riding on the football program's success, so he won't let it slip too much.

With no major injury issues? I expect a 7-5 season BARE MINIMUM for him to keep his job. 6-6 and I want (and think) he'll be fired

A lot of people picked AU to do well in 2010, even before they heard about Cam Newton, because their team was so upperclassmen dominated. Mizzou may be in the same boat this year. IMO, they're the most overlooked SEC team heading into the 2013 season.

Shhh!!!! We want to be under the radar!

And KCMO, I think 7 wins is the expectation too.

With this schedule, there's no excuse not to get 8 wins. 4 OOC wins, wins against Vandy, UK and UT with one more win out of @UGA, UF, USCe, @OM or A&M. If it were me, that's where I'd set the bar. Reality is I think Alden keeps Pinkel if he's 6-6 or better.

Josey is back but I'm not sure if he's the type of back that thrives in the SEC. We shall see. Hopefully the line stays healthy and Franklin makes a liar out of me.

There's a reason we're overlooked. We're a 5-7 team until we prove otherwise.

LOL! Look at his overall record. Given his recent personal problems (which should be behind him now) and the bad luck last year, I think he'll do well this year. Take a look around, I've seen a lot of fans of teams who wish their admin hadn't been so quick to pull the trigger on a good coach, hoping they'd find someone better.
