I know it gets old hearing idiots on the OM MBs going on and on about DM but this postseason was the first time I have really gotten to watch his teams play since they are never on TV.

What are yall's thoughts on him as a coach, I figure some of you may know more than I do about his style and whatnot.

All I know is that if he hired him today I would need a pair of adult briefs.

Isn't it "McDonnell"?

But I would punch a newborn islamic baby belonging to a gay black couple live on MSNBC if we could hire him. But unfortunately that isn't in the deck of cards for the time being and I'm too sick about our baseball team to even discuss such things at the moment.

He assembled the best Ole Miss teams baseball teams we may ever see in our lifetime FeBrees... It's really tough to make an Omaha run but the things Dan accomplished at OM in such a short amount of time were amazing... It was kind of a perfect storm when it came to recruiting for Dan from 2001-2003... He built a fence around the best players in Memphis, MS was deeper in talent than it had been in my life , Bianco's LA high school ties and Polk being a lazy homo all helped him stock the roster full of MLB talent... I want Dan as our coach and have wanted him since 2011... We just couldn't fire MB cause he won the SEC in 09... First time we'd won the SEC in a big 3 sport in like 30 years.

I've had my doubts about him but after the run Louisville has made this year with talent that was actually his I'd be fine if we went after him

Some say he had more to do with the development of the program than Bianco did. He wouldn't be a bad hire. I want the search to be a process that is nation wide though.

this. I don't want it to be where we pass up a better coach just because we are headset on McDonnell

I've been impressed with his teams. He has taken them twice now so people can't say he got lucky anymore. That said he was interviewed during the game in the super regionals and stood and answered questions exactly like Bianco. That would piss me off too often

I'm not one of those who don't think we could get a good coach but I doubt he would come here

Whoever thinks we can't get a good coach is an idiot. We have a top 5 facility and top 5 fan support. Why wouldn't a coach want to come here?

Auburn hired a pretty proven coach from Oklahoma over the weekend and I would like to think we are more appealing then they are.

I agree. I'm just saying he is in a good place now at Louisville. They are moving to the ACC which is pretty good. It seems that he has their team built up better than ours is. I would guess Louisville is paying him pretty well or would at least. I think we could get a great coach... just not sure we could get him.

I agree with you completely. I think we can get a great coach, just not sure he would leave Louisville. He's gotta good thing going there right now and we, umm, do not.

He coaches a lot like Bianco but IMO just better. I knew a lot of baseball players between 04-10 and almost every one of them said they came to play for McDonnell and most were not big fans of Bianco.

I think Mike has done a great job with our program. We were not a good baseball program before he was hired. He stabilized us as a winner and sustained that for 13+ years. Its hard to want to fire someone like that but in his history, he has proven he can't get over the hump. We've had chances along the way but missed those opportunities. We need someone that can take us to the next level. I have NO idea who that person is, but I hope Bjork is at least thinking about it.

I think Ross will make a great hire... By the time April rolls around we will know what direction our program is headed in for the 2014 season (I have no doubt it will be down the shitter)... Bjork will have plenty of time to send out feelers and speak to various agents to have some idea about who is interested and will be a good fit... The OM fans who said they are disappointed in Bjork for not making a move this offseason are idiots that know nothing about the process of hiring a big 3 sport head coach.

I mean I wish we could of done it this offseason, but I certainly understand why we can't.

Side note, I'm not one of those idiots. I think its time for a new coach but understand the process. I think Mike probably knows that next year is 'nut up or shut up' time. I know he feels the pressure and we'll see what next year gives us. At least a regional and hopefully a Super, with some positive improvement may save his job. But if we tank next year, I think he's gone and I think that's the best way it could be handled. We let Bianco lose his own job and give Bjorm time to find a great replacement.
