I would ask LSU the same thing but we know they will field a great D and have a great OL and RB's. We'll know more when we see Cam this year.

On the point Aggies. We know you have likely the best QB in the country and certainly the biggest playmaker. We know you have a gifted OL and five star RB's behind them.

What I want to know is who is going to step up for Ryan Swope and if you know his rating out of HS then please share.

Who replaces D. Moore at DE and how highly was he recruited? Lastly, Since we know you will have a beastly offense can you tell me about your LB unit and secondary and again I ask for star ratings here as well.

Thanks to anyone that takes time to answer this for me. I hate to put much emphasis on HS ranking but usually the higher rated kids seem to pan out more with obvious exceptions.
Edited to add that I'm curious about the star rating of the replacements for Moore, Swope etc..

At the risk of channeling Aggressor:

quote:

-Ryan Swope was a 3-star ATH out of high school that spent most of his time in the slot. Derel Walker (3-star) and Mike Evans (3-star) are the outside receivers.

-The likely starter at slot will be Malcome Kennedy (3-star). You should be familiar with him as he caught the GW TD pass against Alabama. In addition, you will see a lot of Trey Williams (5-star RB) and Brandon Williams (5-star RB) in the slot to screw with opposing defenses.

-In terms of the incoming receivers from the 2013 class:

4/5 star Ricky Seals-Jones will rotate between outside WR and TE

4 star Jaquay Williams-Savage is an outside WR

4 star Kyrion Parker is an outside WR

4 star Sebastian Larue will rotate between outside and slot

4 star Laquivionte Gonzalez needs to add some weight, but he's a slot WR

3 star Jeremy Tabuyo is primarily an outside WR who will see some slot

Damontre Moore was a 3-star DE out of high school.

The starter going into next season is SO Julien Obioha (3-star), who was the SDE starter for 12 of 13 games last season. He's switching sides. RS-JR Gavin Stansbury (3-star) who has quite a few starts under his belt will be the starting SDE.

We also have 6'6 230 4-star DE Daeshon Hall, and the Taylor brothers (both 3-star) JR Tyrell (235 lbs) and RS-FR Tyrone (250 lbs)

Linebackers:

Returning starter - Steven Jenkins (3-star)

Replacing 3-star Sean Porter - JR Tommie Sanders (3-star)

Replacing 4-star Jonathan Stewart - JR Donnie Baggs (3-star)

Backups are FR Brett Wade (3-star), FR Reggie Chevis (3-star), FR Jordan Mastrogiovanni (3-star), JR Shawn Ward (3-star), and SR WR turned linebacker Nate Askew (3-star). SO Michael Richardson (3-star) likely will redshirt due to a spinal injury sustained in the SHSU game that required surgery and SO A.J. Hilliard (3-star transfer from TCU) cannot play this year.

As far as the secondary, the only starter lost was 3-star FS Steven Terrell

Cornerback: JR Deshazor Everett (3-star) and SO Devante Harris (4-star) are the returning starters.

They are backed up by SR Tramaine Jacobs (3-star), FR Noel Ellis (4-star), FR Tavares Garner (4-star), and FR Alex Sezer (2-star)

Safety: JR Howard Matthews (4-star) is the returning SS. JR Floyd Raven (4-star) is the starting FS.

They are backed up by FR Kameron Miles (4-star), FR Jonathan Wiggins (3-star), FR Shaan Washington (3-star), RS-FR Kenneth Marshall (3-star), RS-SO Devonta Burns (3-star), RS-JR Clay Honeycutt (3-star QB), and RS-SR Johntel Franklin (3-star)

Manziel really didn't start throwing much to Swope until well into the season. Evans was the go to guy.

Additional receivers coming into the picture are

Edward Pope - 4*

Cameron Clear - Signed with UT out of HS as a 4* but went JUCO

Both of these guys are expected to either start or get significant PT.

This is basically the thread I was trying to get going when the cyborgs got me. I would like to discuss the Game. This was my assessment of game I cut and pasted, but start with Swope comment.

A&M is absolutely loaded at WR - but OP has a very good point and one I have batted around on aggie boards. Who will replace Swope? What I mean by that is Swope was very smart and very good at being right where JFF needed him on scramble plays. That will be missed. I think so more than most aggies. But I think the others will do fine and we may run a little more and JFF should be more polished in the pocket.

I'd kinda like to discuss the game in general with Bammers and Ags. This is my thought:

The line was set at six. Most Aggies think its high - I think its about right. I think A&M's D is the big question. One thing my fellow Aggies don't see is that is our D may not be restocked - it may be - but it might not be. Likely Bama will be restocked everywhere and can steamroll a team.

A Big piece of the puzzle is A&M's freshman DL. Can they play meaningful minutes. 3 guys in top 100 I think. In the SEC young guys have to step up. will they? If so a&M may be able to slow Bama a little but Bama will score.

As to Bama vs. JFF - I think we all know A&M will not be able to jump out 20-0. This means A&M will have to win in a slug fest. This is hard to do. See Fla. and LSU last year. But JFF is a year into Sumlins system as well and should be even better out of pocket.

I also think we will know early if lanes will open on passing plays for the scramble. I expect the RB's to bet more carries. A&M has couple five stars RBs. Ol will drop but but very good.

If JFF can get lose - all predictions go out the window,

For A&M to win I think they need to score 30.

But with so many changes on D. I have a hard time making a prediction. I think 6 is a good line. A&M just needs to be sure Bama cant go up and down field like a Bully. Ags will need some stops.

I cant even pick a score. too many variables.

Curious how Bama thinks this game plays out. Will yall throw more taking que from La Tech game. Or just pound and run clock? and what score do you see?

Yup. I think we rotate a lot more at WR this year with increased depth and less guys who are entrenched like Swope.

Sadly I think Thomas Johnson would have been an excellent replacement for Swope :-(

Conversely, this will only be the second game for an Alabama offensive line that lost 3 starters.

Thanks man - Im trying to get back to speed over on couple of the Aggie sites Ive been a member of for probably as long as they have been around. Had major surgery and was out of loop over a year. Im doing better - have another surgery soon - but Im at least feeling up to get on the boards again.

The Rant is a tough crowd though. Im just trying to talk football - ya know.

Anyway thx. Bama - where are your potential weaknesses if any and how do you see the game playing out?

That looks more like aggies DL roster not a game rotation of players.

How many do you think will get meaningful SEC minutes this year?
